Smurf no doubt already knows all this stuff. But for the rest of us, I ask the following question: Is this the product of a paranoid mind, or is there something in it? He (she?) certainly seems to have plenty of sources and graphs to back up his (her?) argument.
Do I think we are way too dependent on oil? Yes. Do I think oil alone will kill the american dream? No. With the onslaught of new 'oil' technologies I think we are looking in the right direction to ween ourselves off of fossil fuels. Corn oil and peanut oil are two that look promising. Of course hydrogen powered cars would be cool, just imagine the explosion after an accident!
HaHa, there are no other feasible means of running our world right now, except for pulling that sweet sweet energy out of the sky like Tesla once dreamed. Not with how we already have everything set up to run on oil. Corn oil and peanut oil as alternative fuel sources are ridiculously ridiculous, and would strip the soil of those last remaining nutrients we humans need to remain healthy. Imagine starving even though you're full and eat and eat and eat. Or maybe you'll just be weak and sickly til you die of cancer, but it's just ridiculous and I don't know why people can't see that it'll never happen. Of course peak oil is coming, all the major oil fields of the world are starting to decline, and so if it's not the end of the world like you would all like to believe it's not, it's still the end of the world as we know it. "These are the old ones. They knew the world that once was!" "Eh? Yeah, there were cars and shit and oil enough for everyone." Better believe we're gonna be fighting over this resource right here real soon.
Good way to calm the oil markets. Unfortunately Joe, the end of the world is still coming and oil is probably very essential to the stability of the Earth's climate and electrical fields and shouldn't be removed, assuming intelligent design. But we all know that's a crock of shit.
