    Hi Joe !
    Quote from article
To meet the challenges that lie ahead, a vibrant, flexible and expanding economy is absolutely necessary. While it is tempting to think that government programs are necessary to address anxiety, in reality only the free market can successfully navigate today's rough waters. In the end, it will be the private sector, not the public sector, that quells all this anxiety and creates the opportunities so many desire.

But do you think expansion ad infinitum is possible. Besides, should we not warn against sweatshops and childlabour ? Even though childlabour and sweatshops can be an economical advantage for economies ? How about when Coca-cola built its plant in Kerala ( India ). They spend three litres of water making one liter of cola, thus drying out the local farming community, and creating starvation. Should not these farmers have a state, strong enough to defend their interests ?

So what you’re saying is that the Indian government was bought out by the coca cola special interest instead of looking out for the interest of the farmers? Or the over all good of bringing that money into the economy was the trade off so that now India will import more produce? ....

OK we could argue a lot of cases and Smiley bless his heart can find some way to say that mean old America caused all the problems.

But the scenario laid out is a really complex one. However this is where some form of government enforcement is necessary for the good of the group as a whole. I think that is the point you’re making.
Hold on no the point you are making is about globalization?

Smiley I’m just curious about what classes your taking? I bet you have some of those whacked out professors like that nutcase Walt Churchill is that correct?

yeah joe comes through yet again with another dead on diagnosis.... i never said mean old america is to blame, you're the one that was so upset about how your representatives lobby for interests of others... even if this were true what's so terrible about not only thinking about the bottom line for once?

xerxes had a point and a very valid one at that..... in my geography class, since you are so interested, we've learned that only 3% of the worlds water is drinkable fresh water....... 20% of which is contained in the great lakes region... meaning we have enough as long as we don't pollute it to an unrecognizable extent....... now there are already countries.... india included.. that are running a water deficit.... meaning that more water is taken out either by export of high water content produce, irrigation, bottled water, industry etc..... this, if uncertified will result in a collapse of the hydrolic cycle for that region ERGO meaning that s much as people love their suv's they need water more... guess who else is running a water defect? why you’ve guessed it... much of the Arab world.... in fact it is predictid that the water deficit problem will rise to emergency proportions within fifty years if current trends persist.....

i'm not trying to put down america as a nation.... if you haven’t learned by now i'm not against America or Americans.... my issue has to do with people who by pure chance were born in a land where people can live out a normal life free of persecution (mostly)...... yes those individuals who've never tasted neither war or famine yet they preach and only look out for themselves...... you've proven to be such a person time and time again, so don't misconstrue my criticisms of you as an attack on america it's a challenge against your hypocritical outlook

    Then I said

As a reaction to (Do I really have to go and dig up more quotes Smiles?)
    This is ridiculous really.

As small part of a much larger statement of

    Then Smiley self righteously said

Apparently you missed out entirely on what I am saying. Basically you are wrong.
I can take so much of your self pitying crap all the freaking time. I'm gonna just say it Smiley I don't buy your story like I said from the beginning it doesn't see to fit the scenario. You keep going back and assuming some sort of moral superiority by way of great wisdom you have learned through your experiences in life.

    SMILEY YOUR FULL OF SHIT

That’s right you are a liar.

On top of that to add insult to injury you can't comprehend what you read. I am for the best interest of the Indian population you are referring to. I am making a suggestion as to the solution.
I do not go around attacking you all the time but I'm getting really tired of your taking what could be simple conversation and turning it into one insult and accusation right after the other. I think if you are a Serb your probably one of those heroine addict types that actually contributed to the problem your country was having by funding the very ones who were giving the most grief. You know deep down inside your the ass that caused all your family problems or at least contributed to them. Traitor. I'll just go out there and make those assumptions as you never will back up your whole self righteous position with any hard evidence. How about that it’s the closest I can get out of what little you will say. I bet I'm pretty close aren’t I? Maybe you will one day learn to live with your disgusting mistakes you made in life you piece of crap. Then you will not feel as if you have to make up for everything with your shit ideas.

joe yet ANOTHER home run! How DOOOOO you do it! holy CRAP man WOW..... i'm not interested in providing any evidence for you, it's much more fun seeing you ramble on like this..... so please continue your analysis... i'll give you a hint i LOOOOOOVE animals

i wonder what your occupation is joe, i sincerely hope that you're an accountant or someone that has no need for intuition.... since you seem to know all about heroine addicted serbs.... whom i'm sure you now plenty of personally..... please dig up more quotes ibeg of you seeing as how the first two have no relevance to each other

P.S. don't take quotes out of context.... my response was to you saying that your representatives lobby for interests of other nations.... my response was this isn't such a terrible thing on a global level..... the middle part was just a little throw-in since you seem so interested in my schooling

It think it could have been on a governor-level industrialist lobby thingy. I think CC takes money out of the lokal economy. They dont give much work and through propaganda they bend consumers under their evil empire of sugar-highs and rotten teeth. I am sure that india can produce its own rotten teeth.
Isolationism ? Its a point well taken, but the USmodel has not exported wealth over the rio grande. The more socialist ( your definition ) model of europe has had more luck/will in exporting wealth and creating new markets. Could not have done it without the marshal-plan though.
    ( Another BigGov thingy ).

    Smiley;

It is quite telling, that the breeds of domesticated animals most cruelly tortured are the ones , first to get new plague-strains threatening to man. Chicken-flue and Pig-flue.

I understand that americans dont wantto give away their privilieges. A lot of the time you waste so much more than others that its really not privielege it about. Its just refusing new tech. A monopoly does no longer need to improove and compete. Thus, when most industries are collected in a handful of behemoth-sized companies, the basic benefit of free market falls away.

Cars, Media, Groceries and more. They say that we reap the benefits of their mass-purchase. This is true and false. They allso raize the prices for small-shop owners by their immense demand. Its a vicious cycle.

I have to modify this though. The monopolies know that their grip of the industry is a stranglehold. Thus they allow internal competition within their level of understanding. Mostly relating to profitmargins within limited timeframes.

you forgot one..or left out a part, I should say...the first of may is international workers day..and we too have a labor day..except the purpose of that day is not to celebrate all workers, but to make a large segment of them work harder than ever putting on 'sales' so that those in a higher social class can take advantage of them. oh, the irony.

and samantha, just curious. who and when was my pathological lying confirmed, and by whom..or was it just a general consensus, something that is so much 'common knowledge' it is assumed to be true? Because we all know what happens to people who 'assume'..but I digress..

Joe, of course if things were as simple as good vs evil, people pick good. Problem is, it just isn't that simple..if only it were. Sometimes people exhibit their patriotism by questioning things instead of blindly following in with the party line. Not to say that obedience to rules aren't sometimes needed, but if we didn't have such a propensity to blind obedience as proven by milgrams experiments, the stanford prison experiments, and more recently by abu ghraib, we wouldn't have a need for people to question things in the first place, now would we?

Well MedicVet isn't it nice that we have the freedom to voice dissent?

The whole blindly follow party line point was posed by Nursey before. I do not know what to tell you, like I said in previous posts I have a lot of beefs with the current administration. First of all seems that government spending has not been so high since Lyndon Johnson on big government programs. I think I see the long term strategy though. I don't agree however. The reason you perceive me as blindly following a party line is that I doggedly dispute the message put out by the media elites. I’m just one man so I can only do what one man can. I constantly see a lot of disillusioned people on these forums spitting out the same old spoon fed crap all the time. I simply dispute the validity of the propaganda.

Smiley I do not know why I feel compelled to reply to your posts I must admit your wearing me down with your persistence. I think we equally feel that it’s useless trying to find some level of agreement. So at least for now as long as I can stand it screw it. Sad as it is though because, I bet we do actually see eye to eye on more issues than you think. A word of advice while going to those schools be your own thinker don't allow them to map out your whole personality and ideology. However you want to take it that’s friendly advise.

XerxesX, your right that is the conundrum that exists with Capitalism. Monopolies are a problem that have to be dealt with. Fact is though they are not properly dealt with It’s my belief that the idea is let's let the monopolies implode on themselves so we can propose total regulation of items of necessity maybe. Who knows, but the other theory is that once a company gets large enough to then become inefficient the smaller companies finally get to compete again. I'm still waiting for this to happen for example to Wal-Mart. At the same time I can see right through the demonization of Wal-Mart by the Union types. I agree with very little the union thugs have to say.

the problem with the monopolies we have today is that they have infinitely more power than at the historical period of the teapot dome scandal, and yet we are in more dire need of a breakup of many of them, particularly the monopoly of the media outlets, imho.

At this time I'm not sure the problem will not fix itself. For example you mentioned the media. For so long the alphabet networks really had the monopoly (abc, nbc, cbs) and they all marched to the same drum it seems that they had more integrity and honor in there work pre Korean war since then it has gone down hill. Till finally there over confidence in themselves being able to cloak there propaganda as news came to bite then in the ass when alternative sources came around. Its to late there already so corrupt that they have lost there public trust for the most part.

The larger the company gets the slower it is to adapt and change or work in an efficient manner.

This is where the new startups take hold because they have an advantage.

Also I believe XerxesX touched on the point that the ever larger monopolies form there own counter selves to meet the need of public demand. For instance MSNBC as an entity of NBC. MSNBC seemingly as far as I can tell as being more balanced.

Not to mention the newspaper media, which unless you live in a small town, is good for nothing more than lining your birdcage.
