What's New: The guitar: The new wireless Gibson Les Paul has better, more responsive fret buttons on it than its USB-tethered predescessor. Hammer-ons, pull-offs, and even slides are easier to perform on this controller. Also, the face plate can be swapped out. There are Korn, Smashing Pumpkins, Kiss, and Sex Pistols face plates available for $10 now. Battle Mode: You can not only go head-to-head with an opponnent (face-to-face or online via Xbox Live) but you get battle icons, similar to "Star Power" icons that create trouble for the other guy as you send them his way. One can make all notes double while another makes the fret board jump and the notes flicker on and off. The Bosses: After a few sets, you'll have to face off in Battle Mode against Tom Morello and later Slash. You must defeat them to progress but, gracious losers that they are, afterwards you get to play an encore with these legends on stage. BOTTOM LINE: The graphics are smooth, the animations synch well with the music, and the set list is large. I give it two index fingers and two pinkies up!!
Devil Went Down to Georgia is suppose to be the last song. I love the game but I can't play it. My wrist start to ache like I have been on a 48 hour masturbation marathon.
I've only completed 30 of 42 so far. I started on expert and now regret it. Had I begun on "hard" I think I could have opened up the whole set list. Expert is a bitch.
I started over on "Hard" difficulty and got to the end. Yes, the devil is the last boss adn there is a heavy metal version of DWDTG that you play. I haven't beaten him yet 'cuz it's crazy hard but at least I opened all the songs. The last one is "One" by Metallica - the long version with the great lead guitar and blast beat bass drums. I guess it can't compete with your digital Dungeons and Dragons but I like it.
The covers are pretty well done on this version but the originals are what makes it great. Even Flow, The Metal, Cherub Rock, Cult of Personality, One, - all originals. Cult of Personality and Anarchy in the UK were actually re-recorded for the game this year by the original artists (sans Sid Vicious, of course).
I have the Wii version and it is damn good. Being this was my first real Guitar hero expirence I and my son both blew through easy and I am about to try hard. We even got my non-gamer wife to play and she is about 3/4 the way through easy right now. That Slayer song in the last gig is insane, even on easy mode. I screwed around with it on expert and about had a seizure trying to keep up. I am just waiting for single Guitars so we can battle and do co-op career, as far as i can tell the only Wii guitars available right now come with the game.
I have beat all the songs on expert except "One" and "Reign in Blood". I got my first expert perfect two nights ago on that gay Killers song. I am truely a guitar hero!
I hope you like hearing the same guitar hero song over and over tonight, Im putting our speakers against your bedroom wall. And I'm going to have Harlan sing along.
I got into GH2 for the 360 more than I thought I would. It's probably one of the games I've played the most on that system. I thought about picking up GH3 by itself - don't need any more bulky accessories, already have two of the original 360 guitars.
I asked a worker at best buy about Wii guitars and he told me he had no idea. A guy at Ebgames told me next year. Some bullshit if I have to wait 2 to 3 months for a 2nd guitar. Espically when there was a 2 guitar xbox360 pack.
That does suck about the Wii guitars. I would think a 3rd-party would jump in there. I played some Co-op career at a relative's over the weekend. There are new songs available only in co-op mode but once unlocked, can be played in single "quick-play." However, my 360 (#3) is in Texas at the repair center so I've reverted to my PS2 Guitar Hero games (1, 2, & Encore) for a while.
