    You want a smoking gun?

It started as long ago with ACORN shaking down banks with lawsuits as 1988.

    http://biggovernment.com/kolson/2009/12/06/acorns-fingerprints-on-mortgage-crisis-appeared-20-years-ago/

ACORN has been fairly criticized for its actions that led up to the mortgage crisis, which culminated in a huge rash of foreclosures last year. While the tide appears to be waning, it’s a problem that is still occuring.

Specifically, ACORN strong-armed banks and worked with members of Congress, such as Barney Frank, to weaken credit standards in order for banks, as well as Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, to fund risky mortgages. Mortgages, of course, that stood little chance of ever being paid, as we witnessed last year.

But ACORN’s penchant for shaking down banks didn’t begin 2 years ago, or even 10 years ago. Check out this article from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution from 1988. Grant Williams was an organizer for ACORN at the time ( I wrote here about his new gig at SEIU), and he managed to weasle ACORN into a bank’s proposed interstate merger. From the article:

So not to apparently be accused of implied racism, the bank joined others to meet ACORN’s demands. But, two weeks prior to this revelation, the Journal-Constitution ran another story where Bank South put up a little bit of a fight:

So, presto: drag a corporate name through the mud and receive a hefty payoff. It’s the ACORN way. At what point is some American corporation going to tell ACORN to go to hell and Al Capone’s shakedown tactics won’t work anymore?

Fighting back and not rolling over is the only thing that works with terrorists and just may work with ACORN, too.

The only fucking thing I expect my government to do for me is protect the border and deliver the mail. That's it. Leave the rest up to the citizens.

So who maintains the roads, fight fires, arrest murderers, build jails, maintain the power grid, develop a space program, and etc...?

The government's role is greater than delivering the mail and keeping the borders safe. I agree that it should be minimalistic, but some things have to be done in the public function.

This woman was on TV the other day, I can't remember her name but she made an interesting point about arch-libertarians and anarchists. The woman said that if you would like to live in a country where there is practically zero government, you should move to her country of origin: Somalia. "Somalia from 1991 to 2006, is cited as a real-world example of a stateless society and legal system. Since the fall of Siad Barre's government in January 1991, there had been no permanent national government in Somalia."

Imagine that, no government. An American's dream! That is of course, if you don't mind looting, roving rebel gangs, mass rapes, murderers walking freely, child exploitation, and pirates.

No way am I going to sit through all those videos. I don't care if the Head of the Democratic party is standing at the lincoln memorial calling his entire party communists. They are not communists.

Unethical business practices? Like firing a guy who has worked 30 years for a company building his pension and retirement... only to be forced out of his job so he can't collect full pension and benefits. THOSE practices.

Or maybe firing a guy because he has a heart attack?

Regulations are needed. Otherwise these oil companies will wreck havoc on the enviroment in the name of profit. Just like this Gulf Spill. A half million dollar part is all that it would have taken to prevent this. A multi-billion dollar disaster. Or how about that regulation Bush Sr added. The one that caps an oil company's responsiblity to 75 million dollars?

I don't know about you... but I'm glad as hell Obama got rid of that ridiculous piece of legislature. Can you imagine if BP only gave us 75 million and said "The rest is your problem!"

Let me give you an example of how regulation is needed.

Joe Dixon owns a grocery store in a town of 2000 people. Out of these 2000 people, 100 of them are black.

Jerome Waters is a black man in this town who owns an ice cream factory and employs 150 people making ice cream for people across the state.

One day Joe Dixon hangs a sign on his store window that reads "No Niggers Allowed". Now normally people would be appaled and refuse to shop there.... but Joe owns the only grocery store for 50 miles. At first the blacks learn to deal with it by having their friends and neighbors shop for them. Joe Dixon learns of this and bans those white people from shopping in his store.

Finally the blacks give up and leave town. Jerome Waters included. He moves his factory 300 miles away to a town where he can shop freely. The 150 people he employs are now out of work. They follow Jerome or find work in other towns.

Now with their population down by 350 people... some of the other small businesses are forced to close due to lack of work. Bill's Garage is forced to shut down. Bertha's hair salon. And so on. The effect snowballs until Mr. Dixon is no longer able to sustain his business and the town crumbles.

Now what did this town need? A regulation that says "You can't discriminate against customers regardless of their race, origin, sexual orientation or religious beliefs."

You might find this story over the top. You might even say INSANE. But this is based on an actual true story from a town in Kentucky back in the 1960s and 70s. This is why we need regulations.

YOU JUST PROVED MY POINT. THE FREE MARKET WORKS. NOW THE ASSHOLES ARE OUT OF BUSINESS AND THE NON-PREJUDICED WON. WHY? BECAUSE OF THE FREE MARKET.

    2 POINTS TO MAKE.

    One.

You do not have to watch any videos. Fact is that an FBI investigation that lasted a decade and used huge resources uncovered 10 Russian spies in America blending in as Democrats.

Obama is simply giving them back to Russia.

    Two

There are 120,000 deep water well with no incidence for multiple decades. ONLY under Obama (what are the odds?) does this shit happen. And ONLY under Obama does the government prevent the problem from being resolved in order to exploit the issue.

Looking at historical averages and not counting for advancements in technology. The odds of this re-occurring again in your or your children lifetime are less than one in one thousand.

AND if it were to occur again. So long as there is not some wack job at the Whitehouse preventing cleanup efforts from taking place its more likely the impact would be one percent of the current impact.

It's happened twice in my lifetime. Once before in 1979. Those odds don't sound right to me.

And no it didn't prove your point. The town collapsed. People were forced to leave their homes and their friends. The town went belly up. 2000 souls were misplaced.

How is that a success story?

First of all - let me clarify my statement. It was in reference to Federal government.

    Buuuuut... Since you asked,

Roads? Who the fuck needs those? We make our own down here. *see attachments
Fires? We have (semi-) "Volunteer Fire Departments," partially funded by the state. Besides, think of how many water hoses you could buy without all that federal tax? ;)
Arrest murderers? Shit! Who wants to pay to feed and house these people?!? Get out of the way while someone shoots 'em!
Build jails?- *refer to above statement. Easing restrictions on the legality of drugs will decrease the need for jails, as the stoners just sit around and watch TV, or get artsy-fartsy, and hard drug users kill themselves by OD'ing.
Develop a space program? Well... Obama already turned that one over to the private sector anyway, so... what's your point?

We have all that shit already, with a government. Besides, I didn't say we didn't need a government - I mean, who'd deliver the mail or protect the borders then?

Or regulations could have prevented the whole ordeal. Withoutn regulations on big business you will be just another slave. I'm suprised you don't see that.

Um... There is no constitution in a country that doesn't have a government.
