sometimes there aren't any words..here is a pic I took at the memorial.. My three Great Aunts were living in the city at the time..one of them had one of her windows broken, and she lived miles away..we couldn't find one of the aunts, my Aunt Bettye, and were very worried about her..I was living in Cali at the time...turned out she did work for the red cross, and ended up volunteering to get names of missing and family members together, etc..found her own name on a list of missing and called to say she was okay and that's how we found out, bless her heart. She died two years ago, and I have her dog, Sammy...she was my favorite Aunt, and a WAC during WWII. anyway here is some info on upcoming stuff: http://www.oklahomacitynationalmemorial.org/news_detail2983113.htm the memorial homepage: http://www.oklahomacitynationalmemorial.org/index.htm A LOOK AT THE NUMBERS: http://www.oklahomacitynationalmemorial.org/docs/Murrah Bldg Numbers.pdf
I thought it was very nice looking to have the grass and the chairs there..all that jungle and the ville made me fucking nervous...with the chairs I have an accurate headcount, and people are still afraid of and won't fuck with me. And just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get me.
Point of order - The "Cold Sober" forum was supposed to be reserved for actual serious conversation. The other four forums are open to insanity. At this point it is probably a waste of electricity to point that out...... Barry
what kind of backwards-ass graveyard makes all the tombstones chairs? some backwards-ass southern okies, thats who. i lived there for 1 year and had a grandma who lost her dog there through an open window who died that made the best fucking pies ever! WHOOOO! Oklahoma ROCKS!
A Medicvet vs Ratty match is sure to be entertaining. I hope they both wear scrubs and exam gloves. That would heat things up. Barry
all the flags in OK flyin at half mast today. ...was at the store shopping when the store boss said that a second of silence would now be observed for each person who died...everyone in the store stood still and silent..checkers stopped checking..baggers stopped bagging..afterwards the church bells began to toll, once for each person who died....then people looked at each other and began to talk on how it affected them... there are times when I really like living in a small town..where trials and tragedies bring people together...first time I saw that was the first winter here when there was a very bad ice storm, the 'holiday storm' of 2000/01...no power for weeks, but everyone helped each other out, and instances where you saw the worst of people were rare...
Magnaminous of you to say that. Most 'Mericans tend to go a bit a 'whoop ass' when you mention anything remotely schadenfreude.
We seem to make up for it in all other areas. Per Capita income, quality of life, infant mortality, access to leisure activiites, cheap Mexican labor, fast internet access, dental plans, world class healthcare, largest private ownership of boats, planes and automobiles, etc. And for a luck few, the equipment measures up too. And bombs! Personally, I make up for what I lack in size by trying to cut down other countries. I say things like "Oh you silly Taiwanese and your crappy cars!" It really makes me feel so much more like a cool person.
