I was pretty sure if anyone knew how to, you would, What is a good way to cook tuna on a grill? Any recipie Ideas?
well, I have a freind who called from the coast, he is bringing me a whole tuns... I am gonna attenmpt to cut them to steaks, and then I was going to "grill" them... but I wanted some tips on how to, or a good recipe
Grilled Tuna with Herbs Gilled Tuna with Herbs Ingredients 4x 7oz. Tuna fillets 4 Anchovy fillets, chopped 1 tbspn Lemon juice 1 clove Garlic, crushed 2 tbspns Olive oil 2 Sage leaves, chopped 8 Basil leaves, chopped 1/2 tspn Dried Rosemary 1/2 tspn Dried Thyme Salt and pepper Method: Brush the lemon juice on both sides of fillets and season lightly with salt and pepper. Mix remaining ingredients in oil, pat the mixture onto the filletsand leave for 1 hour. Cook on a preheated BBQ grill for 2 -3 minutes on each side, depending on thickness of fillets. [/list] Personally, I leave the salt out if cooking this dish, because of the salt content of Anchovies. My man doesn't like a lot of salt. Good thing about this recipe, is it's just fillets, not steaks. Tell me if you like the sound of it, otherwise I might have to check my recipe book.
Reiv's recipe looks good! I have found several things that make it good too. MOST IMPORTANT - do not cook the Tuna more than 90 SECONDS. Otherwise, you will be eating $15.00 a pound canned tuna. I cut mine very thick - 1 inch or more, and then get the grill as hot as I can. 500 degrees if possible. I rub the fish with Olive Oil and sprinkle it with Cavenders Greek seasoning. Then grill it 45 SECONDS - NOT ONE SECOND MORE per side. Melt some real butter (not margarine) sprinkle some garlic salt in the butter. Cut the Tuna, dip it in the Butter, and enjoy your oralgasm. The Tuna will be raw in the middle when you take it off the grill. Wait 2-3 minutes before you eat it, and it will not be completely raw in the middle. Tuna cooks after you take it off the grill. I used to eat it raw, but i actually think it tastes better seared. If you freeze it, it must be vacuum sealed. Otherwise it tastes funny after it is thawed. Good eating! Barry
It was a REALLY big fish, so I mafe Reiv's, and barry's, and one of the guys htere made some "tuna Carpachio (really REALLY thin strips, raw, with olive oil, capers and balsamic vinagar) they were all amazing! Now I want to goto the coast and catch dinner every night.. Barry, I made the steaks, and they were seared, and RED in the center, it was so tender,m yuou could cut it with a fork
Glad you liked it. Maybe we can catch a few this summer. BTW - Tuna is the only fish that I eat rare. It really looks and tastes like beef, not fish. If you can get some Grouper, it is the best on the grill. Cook it for 5-7 minutes, and make sure it is is done. Dip in Butter - Oh Yeah! Add a few grilled shrimp, and a Cold *O'Douls and you are close to paradise. * Any brew will do, but I have to drink O'Douls. If I don't, then I end up drinking and not eating. I quit 20 years ago.
