    Some things never change, eh?

Seriously, though - finally hookeed up a turntable to my system, and as much as I hate sony shit, I have to say this fucker's pretty badass. fully auto - doesn't even have buttons, you just graze your fingers across these two metal things and somehow complete the circuit adn it goes. I'll post pictures when i'm sober - probably after my hurricaine pics.

Damn shit sounds good... AC/DC (BIB), Metallica (AJFA), Pink Floyd (DSOTM), Fastway, ozzy/randy tribute, kiss, overkill, hell - even the fucking beastie boys(LTI).

Even threw on some classical, including (but not limited to) 'NIght on bald mountain' (it's on fantasia for you tin-eared mother fuckers out there - you've heard it, fuckers.

Fuck it - gotta go back to the shelf and find more

I never understood your dislike of sony. I have never had a crap product from sony, AWIA, or pioneer, thats a different story, adn JVC,... But now I am 100% philips. all the electronics in my house are Phillips, TV's, DVD, TIVO, remotes, walmens, ect...

Sony definately make the best professional level video cameras, and at a prosumer level Sony and Cannon are about neck and neck.

This is old faithful Lomo, I think we talked about it awhile back on some drunken phone conversation, it's a solid state Sansui 1979, I got it about 11 years ago from my pops. I rewired the cartridge, needles (the ones I use) run about 75 dollars and I change em once a year(every August right around my Bday), sounds fucking perfect. And I've tried out the newer more expensive ones, I still prefer this.

There was a Sansui at the store the other day, I almost picked it up. Looked fucking badass, 'futuristic' even - silver and plexi, instead of having a swivel-arm it had one connected to a drive belt perpendicular to the back of the player so that the arm moved right to left uniformly, instead of the traditional way. Damn thing wouldn't travel the entire distance to the center of the record, neither on it's own or by pressing the buttons. Took it apart and it didn't look like an easy (read: cheap) fix, so I let it go.

I've wanted one of those style tables for a while now, but I'd always wondered if they were less reliable (more moving parts/gears/etc). This one will have to do for now, I'm pretty happy with it but I'd like to know where to find a new needle for it (curious if a new needle will make any difference)...

Anyone know where to find good (cheap) needles for record players?

Go to Radio Shack, if they don't have them on hand they can order them, "Stylus" shit is alright and as cheap as 11.95 a needle. Just make sure it matches your caetridge.

You obviously haven't drank enough of it, then...

Just tonight, in fact, it gave me the willpower to endure a complete freezer overhaul - hair dryer, fan, electric heater, etc... I took pics of my progress, had to completely defrost and drain the inside coils of my 'frost free' refrigerator.

Not quite the evening I had planned, but she can wait...

Cool. Sounds like a good time!

Why would you take pictures of that? Just to chronicle it or send it to the manufacturer?

Y'kno what they say, that 211 makes you do some crazy things...

Actually, I took pics of it just for the hell of it, mainly to chronicle it (for whatever purpose I have no idea).
