photoshop help

    i was wondering if anybody could help me create a "collage" using photoshop. i am not sure if i need to use layers or not and i dont know how to do that anyway.

    well when you copy from the source image and paste into photoshop a layer will be created automatically... next

    allright, what i need really is step by step instructions. i cant copy and paste anything into a new page.

    go to file>new ... create a new blank image at desired proportions..

    go to file>open .. open the image you wish to paste into the collage

    with the image you want to paste from on top select the part of the image you want to copy.. if this is too difficult for you go to select>all)

    with the image to copy selected go to edit>copy

    now click on the new image (the one you want to paste into.. the collage) and go to edit>paste

    this will put the copied image on a new layer... you can move it around in the collage as you see fit with the black arrow selected in the toolbar.....

    ah hah! thanks Pimp! i think i an figuring it out. as soon as i get something decent together i will try and post it. thanks for helping me, i appreciate it.

    Which dpi would you suggest for output to newsprint? And should I use a light, medium or heavy grey component replacement during the CMYK conversion, with kodak approval proofing? There is a lot of shadow detail.

    at a guess 90, but what's your lpi?
