    Not true. It was originally called GOF in about 1580 odd when it was first 'invented' . Named after the binding that was used to create the golf balls that where made of duck feather and wrapped in tanned pig skin.

    This is from memory but the facts are essentially correct.

    However true this may be, recognised still is not recognized in said continents...

    (Unless you count Canadia - but then again, who ever does?)
