Ok I am getting old and "not with it" but I am deeply upset and confused about a band. My kid likee to watch MTV ... we were watching and look up from my book and thought the remote had changed to maybe Comedy Central... I thought we were watching an old Kids in the HALL or something.... NO it was a real band.... keep in mind I hate all new music and only listen to the 80's station or talk AM stations in my car.... BUT this band was UGLY, BAD, and overall stupid I thought it was a joke.... It's called "The Darkness" and the song was something like "thing call love" urgggg the voice, the fag, the hair, the teeth, the clothing.... it must be a joke... right? I have hated MANY bands and singers, but this one has me SICK. I would rather watch and listen to Celine Dione ... and that says a lot. anyone seen this video? did I dream it? is this whats cool now, am I that old?
unfortunatly its real, its some brit band (figures) that is trying to bring back 80's glam rock.... uggh
I'm with you dude...most of todays music sucks the high hard one. I do like a select few songs that are out these days...but not much. Hey, since you are into classic rock, check out Doro Pesch.... She's out of Germany, but most of her stuff is in english. She started back in the 80's, with a band called Warlock, then went out on her own. She has never lost it. What a fucking crime that she isn't that big here in the states. She is what Metallica WISHES they were....true to the roots, pure rock! If you have Kazaa, Grokster, etc... you should be able to get some of her stuff. Or, if ya want, drop me a line with some songs you like(so I can gauge how heavy you like your music), and I'll give ya a few song titles to check out. She's got stuff that rocks like hell on wheels, and some really kick-ass power ballads. Oh, and she does the absolute BEST covers of both Baracuda(by Heart) and Whiter Shade of Pale(by Purple Harem). IMHO, blows the originals away. One last thing, if you hear a familiar voice on some of her duets, she's a good friend of Lemmy Kilminister(Motorhead), and they sound great together.
um Im not into any type of metal... the ONLY metal like thing I ever owned was 10 years ago (Pantera) lol ... Most people think I am a Goth type by my look... but I only like a verry few gothy bands, I do like a few older indutrial bands (KMFDM, Front 242, Zombie) but nowa days since Im getting old I tend to listen to things way unexpected of me... The last CD I mad thanks to Lime wire has Old Ike and Tina, Elvis, Johnny Cash, Sinade O conner, Frank Sinatra, Iggy pop, Love & Rockets, David Allen Coe, Lords of Acid, and 2 ska- like songs I forgot the name of the band.... I think Cheese metal is the only catagory I dont go into.... BTW who ever joined me to the Darkness fan club (I know it was one of you fuckers) You suck and kiss my fat ass. It was not funny! I seriously thought that band was joke, I hate MTV... They play that fucking Outcast video 50 times a day (hey now) my son is allways singing "shakah da polaroid picture" And the other Outcast video is on 30 times a day "I like the way you move" and I caught my 4 year old "doodle buggin" to the girls on that video.... yes that means playin with his dingdong. I guess I am outlawing MTV for him, I have child lock on the TV where I can pick what channels to put , I just have to figure it out. Man I just read this post and now I feel WAY old.

Alright, I had to do it...I went on MTV.com and looked up that video...I just had to be sure........ OMFG!!!!!!!!! Don't get me wrong, I have long hair, and I liked 80's glam rock(well, some it anyway)...but this shit has GOT TO FUCKING GO!!!!! I'd rather grab a handfull of razorblades and jerk off with them than watch/hear that shit again! I'd rather fall off my roof and dangle by my eyelid from a nail, than watch/hear that shit again... am I getting my point across here? agh i hate MTV and im only 18, alot of the shit they put on the air is rediculous. like those fucking "reality" shows, how many fucking ppl do you honestly know get stuck on some unihabited island? pretty much the only channel i watch is Cartoon Network for adult swim. other than that id rather rot my fucking brain some lame radio station here. and houston has the worst radio stations here, no good rock stations, all Hip-Hop shit and country. besides the constant report about some murderer death contriversy or death from the night before, theres nothing on. jerry spring cant keep my attention with the lame shit they put on. my husbian is fucking my brother, blah blah blah, not interesting. bevis and butthead was the shit. i had the sega game some where, could never get the whole ticket but i just liked making fun of that fat bitch in the van.

Houston has a rock station that plays half 80s and half 90s. Thats the closest you're going to get to a real music station around there. They also have a classic R&B station there. I listen to that one when I'm in houston. I agree with most of what you folks say. I remember back in the day when MTV only played videos and "Remote Control". Nowadays MTV is about pop culture and has nothing to do with good music anymore. Just another example of people taking something good and letting the $$$ take over their brains. Sell outs. The station was originally started by three hippies who wanted to spread liberalism through the main public. They thought that a TV station that only played music videos was an easy way to capture everyone's attention. And boy did it ever. Have you noticed that in every reality show they air... there is always a fag or a dyke? Niggers are present in almost every project and idiot baseheads provide "color" commentary. At least most of us were smart enough to bail on MTV after they stopped producing worthwhile entertainment.

I thought that band was a joke too. Unfortunately for the world it isn't. Look on the bright side, all the idiots will flock to those retards like moths to a bugzapper!
