...it now has two rock stations competing with each other. I was fucking amazed when I was doing a bit of automobile-channel-surfing the other night when I discovered that one of the stations (102.7, for those keeping score) has changed hands yet again... Originally, they were some kind of pop crap station, then they went to a 'mix' shit, now they're advertising themselves as "K-ROK" - poised to ch-allenge 99.5 KISS as the premiere San Antonio rock presence... Interesting, I say. The bit they play between songs sometimes asks people to call in and request what they want to hear from this new 'budding' station, and I'll be damned if I don't call in and request some fucking Ministry. KISS is too much of a pussy to play their shit (sure, they'll advertise the concerts, but they'll never play the 'grandpappy' of all the shit they play right now). If they start playing Ministry, I swear I'll convert... Of course, it wouldn't be fair to not mention "KZEP" (104.5, for Cheeze in his travels) - the local classic rock station... they're pretty badass, too. Oh, and Cheeze, if you want to fall asleep, run off the road and kill a family of five during your trip through here, tune into 88.3 - all Mozart, all the time... Am I going crazy or does it look like every single city has at leats one radio station called KISS,or CISS,or some other variant on how to spell it.
They are called "Access Roads" in Texas. In some other places (like Virginia and Florida) they are called service roads. Yeah I was listening to that classic rock station on my way to Laredo. I was also listening to some station that plays 1/2 80s and 1/2 90s. I don't know what the hell the name was... but it came in clear all the way to Houston.
Beats the hell outta me... I stumbled on that 102.7 on accident, I need to scan through the FM band again sometime...
