Anyone here a big NASCAR fan? What do you think about what happened to Dale Earnhardt?

I unlike GAS...was a big Earnhart fan. It was kinda all me and my dad had to talk about. Cause I grew up and I wanted to talk to my step mom more then him about you know girl stuff...but we always had racing and we always had Dale Earnhart. Dale Earnhart dies and so did much much more.
It is a great loss for everyone, even the little fans, but especially to those who knew him best.
It was his day and no one elses.............

My brother collected anything that had his name on it....he said he has spent about 7,000 on it all, now he's going to take pics of every thing and put it on ebay with a min. bid of 50,000 just to see what people will offer...just a little side note...he said he was in wal-mart today and two guys were fighting over the little cars with his name one it....and if anybody would like it, my bro has the race on tape, if you want a copy he will do it for the price of the tape and postage

I saw the crash on ESPN. Then kept playing the shot from his helmet-cam when he hit the wall.

It's strange. I've seen crashes that looked ten times worse than that, and they always walk away from them.

The same happened to Ayrton Senna...relativly small crash but still killed him...F1 lost a lot when he died...

Dale's luck ran out. His head popped the wrong way. Ayrton Senna had a dumbassed crewman shorten and reweld his steering wheel shaft. 4130 Chrome-Moly needs to be tig welded. Oops! shaft broke, car slammed concrete wall at about 130 mph. (Hit broadside while sliding sideways. No glancing blow like Dale's). Front suspension shattered and piece of control arm flew back and pierced Senna's skull.
F1 sucks, BTW. CART is the best open wheel series in the world. Tony George is a dickhead. IRL sucks too. Purgatory for washed-up CART drivers.

Im not saying that it wasnt a tragity but we should get our priorities striaight.

All you Earnhardt fans crying in your beer, riddle me this...

On 18 February 2001, while racing for fame and fortune, Dale Earnhardt died
in the last lap of the Daytona 500. It was surely a tragedy for his
family, friends and fans. He was 49 years old with grown children, one,
which was in the race. I am new to the NASCAR culture so much of what I
know has come from the newspaper and TV. He was a winner and earned
everything he had. This included more than "$41 million in winnings and
ten times that from endorsements and souvenir sales". He had a beautiful
home and a private jet. He drove the most sophisticated cars allowed and
every part was inspected and replaced as soon as there was any evidence of
wear. This is normally fully funded by the car and team sponsors. Today,
there is no TV station that does not constantly remind us of his tragic end
and the radio already has a song of tribute to this winning
driver. Nothing should be taken away from this man, he was a professional
and the best in his profession. He was in a very dangerous business but
    the rewa

Two weeks ago seven U.S. Army soldiers died in a training accident when two
UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters collided during night maneuvers in Hawaii. The
soldiers were all in their twenties, pilots, crewchiefs and
infantrymen. Most of them lived in sub-standard housing. If you add their
actual duty hours (in the field, deployed) they probably earn something
close to minimum wage. The aircraft they were in were between 15 and 20
years old. Many times parts were not available to keep them in good shape
due to funding. They were involved in the extremely dangerous business of
flying in the Kuhuku mountains at night. It only gets worse when the
weather moves in as it did that night. Most times no one is there with a
yellow or red flag to slow things down when it gets critical. Their
children where mostly toddlers who will lose all memory of who "Daddy" was
as they grow up. They died training to defend our freedom.

I take nothing away from Dale Earnhardt but ask you to perform this simple
test. Ask any of your friends if they know who was the NASCAR driver
killed on 18 February 2001. Then ask them if they can name one of the
seven soldiers who died in Hawaii two weeks ago.

18 February 2001, Dale Earnhardt died driving for fame and glory at the
    Daytona 500. The nation mourns.

Seven soldiers died training to protect our freedom. No one can remember
their names and most don't even remember the incident.

    Enjoy your day.

Who gives a toss, the man new the risks and got in the car, the same as Senna, the same as Wayne Rainey (GP 500), if you don`t need the money you do it for the rush, if you do it for the rush and have the tallent, you take a bigger risk to win, because you need to win, you take a bigger risk, you take the concequences, at his age he should have known better, he had fuck all left to prove, he paid the price of needing to win. Like so many before him, and so many to come, you have to know when to draw the line and walk away, not such an easy thing when you know you`re the best, and need to prove it.
Don`t let 1 ego distract from what is happening in the rest of the world, well done fugly, a little clarity don`t go a miss now and then.

Hehe...They do tend to hide behind their long range weapons when in battle...But it seems they are quite good at killing each other when in close combat/or training though...Keep up the good work lads...
