Ok. What is the rule on this.

If your child leaves a note or a letter laying around the house (not in their room), is a parent allowed to read it without violating their privacy?

 

At the end of the day, you are the parent, so if your parental instinct - which is primarily to protect your kids - is curious from a concerned parental perspective, I'd say you can be forgiven for breaking the rule.

Read it. It may be nothing, but you never know. Besides, children have no rights so you can't violate their rights.

I did read it. It was laying in my clothes basket. Nothing horrible in it... just about some boy she liked. However, my old lady screamed at me for "violating her privacy". I figured if it was left in my clothes basket I could read it.
