Door Armor Jambs and I suggest you all do the same. I didn't know someone could kick your door in in like 15 seconds. Seriously, check these out. I watched some youtube videos where news channels tested them and they work. http://www.djarmor.com/Products/Door-Jamb-Armor
ive seen simular stuff to that. the one i saw basically wedged the door into the frame and made it immobile. only way to break it down was with a hydraulic ram.
And if your house is on fire and you are unconscious because of the smoke it will take rescuers just as much to get to you. Id stick with the 'they break in they ass is dead' methodology...
well if someone wants in so bad, they don't mind busting down a door. What is to keep them from breaking a window?
70% of the time or more, they enter through a door. A 12 year-old can kick in a door. It's not hard. I will get bars for the windows and I will take my chances in dying in a fire. I'm just worried about something happening to my animals. I don't want anyone busting the door in, shooting them or them running outside and getting hit by a car. Husband says to get a steel door in my bedroom with door armor and bars on the windows and lock the dogs in there and I thought about that. The best thing for me would be to take my animals with me to work. After this job, I am not leaving the house. I will work from home. i have been wondering about installing a sprinkler system inside.
I'm with Phatty on this one. I don't need a gimmick... I've got one of these: If I don't get 'em with 8 shots of 12ga, then I don't deserve to hold that thing...
And you are home 24/7 to do that? You think someone couldn't get in there and steal your guns or kill your pets?
I did not watch that video and its a good thing I think it has screwed with your head seriously. Look if someone wants in they can get in with little effort door guards or not. Unless they are just plain stupid. The best solution is to give them incentive not to.
That having been said if the Door Jambs are easy to install, inexpensive, and do not screw-up the looks then whats the harm?
Goddammit! Why do you have to take the fucking fun out of it?!? So what if I spend half of my prime-time hours under a tripod, & behind a telescope for 12 hrs/day? ;-)
I have a security system with a 1-2 minute response time. Anyone that tries to get into my place will have rent-a-cop shooting their asses within minutes.
I don't know about where you live, but here in Oklahoma getting a fire system put in is expensive. I used to work for a sprinkler company and the only houses we ever sprinkled were brand new houses and they were usually the $300k or more houses. Retrofitting is a pain in the ass, you can expect a big mess, even more so if the house is plaster and not sheet rock. Your insurance would go down though, I believe.
Maybe I can just hire a homeless guy to stand with a hose for the few hours a day I am not here. I'm losing my shit. I think I need help. Was thinking of trying some form of herbal antidepressant. I am sick of drs and the damn pills they always try to push. I was going to start on the Remeron I have had for 9 mos but am weary of taking it because of how horrible it made me feel on 15mgs and was told to go to 30.
Damn, no offense, but Im glad I dumped my ex who has depression. Bitch was a total drag, even though she was a nice little number. Sorry you gotta deal with that. Have you tried Marijuana? Stuff calms me down and it actually makes you feel good.
I think a security system is a good investment, with the right company. The one my mother-in-law has even has a key fob in case you get home and there is someone suspicous around the house, or if you see a door open, or a window broken. Just hit the button and the po-po was on the way.
The average response time is like 20 minutes. I think they are kinda pointless at that point. Had I not spent my door armor money at the vet this weekend, I coulda had them.
oh, that is shitty. When my mother-in-laws house got broke in to the cops were there in 3 minutes. Thats pretty damn quick.
I don't see that happening here... being out of city limits, I have to wait for the sheriff. The volunteer fire dept is like forever away. The city is about 5 min though but I doubt they would come. I'm so close to the city, yet considered outside... saves me money on taxes, but that's about it.
