I look like I'm wearing a half shirt and capris. I fucking hate capris. Also, the face rubbed off of one of the kissing monkeys and I'm pissed. I'm punchy. I had three hours of sleep last night. I was feeling tweeked out and I couldn't sleep. I kept trying to sort out my finances. These hospital bills are eating me alive. Anyway. I go to this store we have around here and I think they are scattered around KY, OH, MD, PA and VA as well. It's called Gabriel's... everyone calls it Gabes. It's pretty gross. You walk in and it smells like poverty and popcorn. They sell food, but I have never seen anyone eat it. They sell clothes that are messed up in one way or another, but you can get some good deals. You can also find some really messed up clothes. Like the shirt I saw yesterday. The entire back was ripped out and it was a dollar. I laughed. I have laughed at a lot of the stuff they sell. It's a fun place to go with a friend. I went alone so it wasn't so much fun. Some crazy guy sprayed me with hand sanitizer or what I hope was hand sanitizer. (I was just looking at it... didn't need a demo, christ. I don't know if he was an employee or just a weirdo) I kept thinking it was some messed up hallucinogen and that my legs were going to melt off of my body and I would end up collapsing on that dirty floor full of dust bunnies and welfare mites cradling a shoe with an one eyelet and two tongues. (yes, they would sell it) Anyway, I go in looking for some cool Garden Ridge-like home furnishings and leave with 40 bucks worth of fucked up sleepwear.
we have the Dollar General. it is not a Dollar store... but it sells cheap ass messed up stuff. I once bought bread there... and it tasted like how new swimming pool floats smell. My sister bought bread there as well... and her kid said "this sandwich tastes like water wings"
Ugh, I remember in 97' my dad was having trouble with his job and he was working few hours, so we had to go shopping at the thrift store, God that sucks. If anything drove me to get a good education it was that period in my life.
Please provide pics.. We have a bunch of thrift stores. You got the Salvation Army, they have 3 stores, and then the Goodwill. Which is cool. I bought a BMX bike for my 8 year old for 3.00. They had a cannondale but some weird homeless guy wouldnt walk away from it so I could sneak it to the register. They both have 'auto auctions' but all the cars are the abandoned ones that the cops tow away.
We have "Last Chance Thrift Store" they basically are in old Walmart buildings. The prices sometimes suck. Like you will find a shirt you really want and it will be like 12-25$ ...but it will be next to a shirt that is 2$ and well ....they attach the price with a staple to the name brand/size tag... so when I go I bring a handy little stapler. I will not pay 20$ for a used shirt... F that. Last time I went I got some awesome curtains there that were priced 49$...or should I say $8 ..I am sure they cost around 120-160 new... oh and a really cool table cloth for 5$ that was marked 27$... I have no idea why I got a table cloth I have never used one...but it was really nice. I blame the thrift store for all of my clutter and junk... I really wish they would close. Its kinda funny... someone will call me and say "what are doing?" and if I say "going to the thrift store" they say" got your stapler"... everyone I know does it... and in the dressing room you will always find tiny staplers in the corner, or in the pockets of clothing left hanging there. kinda strange. I bought some really pretty throw pillows one time...but then I started thinking...what if the people donated them because they had a lice infestation. So I left them on my porch planning on taking them to be cleaned..never got the chance, and a dog shredded them...had a huge mess to clean up. That sucked
I didnt know thrift stores still used staplers kinda cool. I live in a small town so we have a good will (overpriced) and salvation army that has dime day twice a month. Ive heard of some secondhand stores doing stuff by the pound, I wish we had one. All the secondhand stores here use tags
Last chance has half price Monday... and therest of the week goes by color of the tags. (depending how long they had the item) so some weeks green will be half price, next week pink tags. They are way over priced. I have seen Old Navy shirts marked the same price as new in the store....thats why everyone brings a stapler.
Gabes isn't really what I would call a thrift store. They sell new merchandise that is "slightly irregular". Some stuff is really messed up, some stuff isn't. I just bought an XOXO robe for 5 bucks, retail was 45. I can't find a problem with it. I used to shop at second hand stores when I was younger, but now my OCD is worse so I will buy a few things at Gabes but mostly buy my clothes at JCPenney because in my heart I am like 80 years old and Pennies has good deals.
Kinda, but better prices. I only like TJ Maxx for their home furnishings. They have some cool stuff. Better than Pier 1 I think and better prices.
I know your kind... You're the kinda shopper we wouldn't even piss on if they were on fire.
I've never switched tags. The only thing I did once was not tell the cashier at Kmart that the price was wrong. I got a $90 rug for $36. I didn't correct her.
I hate carpet. I don't have any carpet except for an area rug.... not the old Kmart one. This one came from Lowe's and I paid full price.
Im with you on that one. We have one area rug and its under our old ass dining room table. Its about 100 years old and needs to be 'repaired' and it was to rickity on the hardwoods. Other than that nothing but wood and tile.
