I kinda want one, but I am afraid that I will go through a rejection period and wish I hadn't. I like cats but I have three dogs who also like cats. I would feel bad getting just one, so I would have to get two so they would feel like a duo against the dogs. I'd also have to probably get kittens so they wouldn't already hate the dogs. Are kittens a pain in the ass? I know puppies are, that's why I always adopt adult dogs. I also kinda want another dog or two. I want to spoil some more animals, but I worry about dying and no one wanting to take care of 5 dogs and 2 cats.
kittens are not bad like puppies. I can't deal with puppies. Get one cat or kitten and get another later, that way it will bond with you. If you get 2 at the same time- they will not give 2 shits for you.
I have a friend that has to get rid of a 'lovable' male cat, about 4 yrs old... all shots, but not fixed. Indoor-outdoor trained, claws intact. PM me if anyone's interested in the South Texas area...
I got two rescue'd cats. Had them since they were kittens. Fixed but not declawed. They are good. just annoying at night when they decided its time to have a battle royal in the living room at 3am.
I've lived with cats, but never owned one. I am a dog person by nature. I don't know how well a cat would do in the house of spoiled dogs. One of my dogs, she likes to use her front paws a lot and she jumped on the neighbors cat's back a few times wanting to play. She's almost 50 pounds. I'm afraid she might pet the kitty too hard and hurt it. My cousin's cat used to wake me up at 6AM every morning attacking my legs. We would go insane every morning at 6AM. He ran away the day I moved out. I can't say that I blame him.
The cat ran away or your cousin ran away? Our girl cat likes to sleep on me. Not sure why but I will wake up in the middle of the night with this furry cat on me, looking at me and purring. Kind of stalker-ish. The boy cat has a broke 'squeeker' and can only purr a little, sounds like an old volkswagen running out of gas, plus he drools if you pet him.
A lot of cats drool when you pet them. It's gross. Dog drool isn't as gross to me. Cats have really stinky breath too.
Kittens are cute as hell, but the disadvantage is that the little bastards are constantly shitting(more so than adult cats). I have owned a few kittens in my lifetime, and everytime I turn around they are pooing, so if you can handle that, well then more power to you, go for it....
