You should check some classical pieces out: Symphonie Fantastique, Hector Berloiz From the New World (Symphony # 9), Antonin Dvorak (See if you catch the inspiration for scenes in the Peter Jackson movies, specifically #2, The Two Towers) 9th Symphony, Ludwig van Beethoven (Listing this because it's a favorite, and the second movement was utilized heavily in the movie adaptation of "Clockwork Orange" - worth checking out, if you have not done so yet.) Just a few suggestions... Let me know if any catch your ear.
Hell, if you want to limit it to video game themes, you might as well rack up that guy that did the theme for the Kefka battle in FFIII (US) - that was a pretty epic digital piece, given the hardware he had to work with.
