If you ever get something in your eye and can't get it out, try flushing it at your kitchen sink with the sprayer thingy. Turn upside down and turn it on enough to come out like a fountain and stick your eye in it and look around for a while. It worked for me. I had something in my eye the night before last and all day at work and no one could see anything, so I went home and did that and it was fixed.
Sheesh. Nothing. I was trying to go to sleep when I noticed it. And please note that you don't have to have the "antique pewter finish" to effectively flush your eye. My faucet is brushed nickel and it worked just fine. I'm sure plastic and chrome would work just as well.
In furtherance, one could simply opt for the "alfresco style" vinyl-coated rubber with brass (or plastic) fittings... (the garden hose)...
