Being an owner of both systems, I can honestly vote for the DS (lite - I've never played an original DS). I keep my PSP so that I can run emulators off the memory card, and I carry a couple thousand 8/16-bit games around with me when I take it.

As far as sheer gaming goes, in regards to the games actually programmed for the systems, I have to give a hands-down nod to Nintendo with the endless innovation that the DS gives. Nintendo has something going for them right now, and I'll go so far as to say that if I purchase any of the new consoles, it'll probably be the 'Wii' - the other two devices seem to try and improve on the tried-and-tested theme of the games being sold today, by offering better gfx/sound/etc. Nintendo always seems to have something up it's sleeve, and with a great deal of reluctance (especially after seeing the controllers), I'm going to go with the Wii.

I voted solely on the basis of the advertising, as I own neither.

Make of that what you will.

I agree the Wii is the way to go, all the power of a PS3, and $250 cheaper on release day

Seems, though that Nintendo still has the kiddie-console stigma. Will they get more cutting edge? Shall we see "Grand Theft Mario Kart" on release day?

I'd thought they've gotten past their stigma regarding 'adult themed' games, at least for a spell... Look at Conker for the N64. Haven't been following the current systems closely enough to see if they've kept with it, and why they don't have a GTA game

I mainly see Nintendo's trend towards innovation - the touch screen on the DS, although not a new idea (I still have my Tiger "Game.com" system), they've surely done more with it than anyone else could've predicted. Same goes with this Wii system. Nobody likes the name, everyone thinks the controllers are silly, and the system is doomed to failure. I think Nintendo knows what they're doing, and I, for one, can't wait to get my hands on a newly-redesigned Zapper.

If nothing else, this will be an interesting new console war.

My wife is getting a DS lite for her birthday, which of course means I am getting a DS lite for her birthday. Another reason I am getting a Wii, is they interact via wifi, kinda like the GBA/GC just wireless.

Do yourself a favor and find a copy of Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow.

    You'll thank me.

Yeah, I saw that one it looks pretty good. Right now we only have 2 games. Brain age and Sims 2, for making me do Math and read, Brain age is a lot of fun. It even has Sudoku puzzles.

I just got Final Fantasy III, so far it is really fun. They did a great job touching up the graphics and the touchscreen is the coolest shit ever on an RPG

My only complaint, is the damn thing is so small, my hands start to cramp a little. They made a plastic piece for the GBA that made it fit right into your hand, but I have not seen anything similar for the DS. I have not had a chance since Thanksgiving to play, so I am stiil at the Fire Cave where you have to get the Ice bells back. :(

How you liking the job system? I have a habbit, some might say it's a bad one, of leveling for the sake of leveling. I keep getting my jobs to lvl 20 and then switching. I beat the firecave and am about to fight the guy they said ya need a Scholar for.

    DS OWNERS:

BUY Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin. Make haste.

Typically, Konami doesn't ever make enough of these games to keep up with the demand, so I suggest getting your copy now.

And while we're on that note, pick up DAWN OF SORROW while you're at it (if you can find it). I swear, that game is every bit as good as SOTN, and maybe even better.

Yeah, he Barrier shifts like every turn or so. So far the Job system is better than in any other FF game. I have a bad habit of wondering if I have the right jobs. My black and white mages are both in the 20's. My Geomancer and Scholar are both under 10. I wanna trade out for a Dragoon, but I havent seen any equipment. Have you heard of the Onion Knight ? The Gaurdian of the water crystal is super easy, but the next part is kicking my ass. My main problem is I tend to be to offensive and I end up not healing enough, so since in this one you can't buy the phoenix downs, I drag around dead party members a lot.
