Any of you watching the MTV series "two a days" about the Hoover Bucs football team?

Hoover is in my old hometown of Birmingham. They have been to the State playoffs the last five straight, and have played my current home town team (Daphne) four of those years. (Daphne only won once).

From what I have seen it paints an interesting picture of what football is in the insane South. This high school team has more that most college teams elsewhere. It almost makes you sick to see the emphasis that is placed on a freakin' game.

It also does a lot to dispel the myth of of a poor an backwards Alabama. Man those folks have got the money going.

    Any thoughts?

Oh, and remember Kids, nothing sucks like a Hoover.

I havent seen it, I dont watch much MTV, since all they show is real world and rap shows. The high school in Elberton GA, IE the "Granite Capital of the World" has their stadium sunk down, carved out of stone, it is awesome, then they have the old UGA scorboard.

My highschool field sat about 6k, the stadium in Elberton was well over 15k. Just awesome. But you are right, the emphasis on the game is crazy.

I don't need to see it, I lived Southern High School Football. It should be outlawed.

Awww did you get wedgies from the football players? Maybe a swirly?

Its okay grim, sometimes people pick on other people, and sometimes people need pickin on.

I, as a former player myself, for one didnt pick on all the losers, IE you, around campus. I was too busy sleeping in class. However I know there were some real dick heads on the team that did plenty of hazing of other students for no reason.

Now that wont make it into the show though. They'll just show people crying like bitches if they lose. I have seen it, on the bus after the game people crying over a loss. I did make fun of those pansies too.

I think the show on ESPN is pretty good, with Butkus, if I ever decide to quit working for a living I think being a high school football coach would be pretty fun.

No I played also. I was tailback and back up QB. I enjoyed it back then but looking back it was just insane how they pushed us.

Oh, you had the easy job, try being O line and D line, cause you are better tired than the rest are fully rested. Not to mention I kicked better than the kicker, but I was the only long snapper on the team. I was faster than the TE, but I was bigger so I had to block. Though I did love playing DE, nothing like lighting bitches up. Of course getting cussed out by 50 year old has beens, or never was, sucked but I dont know, I made a lot of friends.

But now that Im q coach, I guess I understand what they were yelling about. There is a lot of compettitiveness left. I'm actually going to try out for a local indoor team, but that is because I have a lot of pent up aggresion I need to get rid of....

I dunno Phat that ol man might just put you in your place.

I ditched football out of protest Spring High sucked ass. But don't get me wrong I was more than willing to meet up with any of the players that lived near my neighborhood to play street rules down at the Junior High field. Problem is they were liable to get hurt we did not use pads. I know what you mean about hazing Phat but our team was so bad and they knew it. I would openly tell them just how crappy they were free of retribution.

I bet if I start searching archives of news print I can find the score of our homecoming game against Conroe we lost by like 50 points! Although it seemed a bit of a setup to have us play that team. The reason I showed up at the games was to get a list of where all the parties were going on in case I missed one.

At 5'11 1/2", I was a center on my HS basketball team. Imagine how good we were (military school.)

I haven't seen the Hoover reality show yet but I am marginally interested in seeing how the other half lives. Such displays of abject wealth should be fascinating in a train wreck sort of way.

That's hilarious. Major has his own private pool and tennis courts, and he wants to see how "the other half" lives. Ha!

Kiss my sterling silver begging cup. I live in your hand-me-downs. I meant that having graduated from a primitive high school (40 in my class) I'd like to see what a big 6-A like Hoover has going on.

Go take a tour of the Trojans facilities. Just as impressive.

40 in your graduating class? I bet the first day of college was a shock for you.

Well Jr. College was at the same school. After my A.A., I became one among 22,000 at Auburn. A bit of a change.

Y'all haters are just jealous. Anyway, I saw "Two-a-days" (remember the thread?). It's a pretty interesting show. I could do without the antics of the "cast" but the game film was exciting.

    War Eagle, bitches!
