I came across this the other day, if anyone is interested in trying out another OS and not wanting to wipe their PC to do so. Its a pretty good how to, you can substitute WinXP with Fedora, Ubuntu or whatever. http://johnbokma.com/mexit/2005/10/26/vmware-player-windows-xp.html Running WinXP Pro SP2 with Windows XP Pro SP1 in VM. This will allow me to test software and if it screws everything up I havent lost anything. You can make multiple copies of the VMDK so you can just copy it over whenever you want, I will set up a fedora one and post some pics of it too.
Anything you have an OS for, it will boot to CD just like a 'real' pc. I am going to do the fedora one next, I just want to make sure I have the latest and greatest. The good thing is that it sees the network and all as a generic connection, so there arent any driver issues with NIC, Video, modem and so forth.
