a very interesting article about what could possibly be in store for America. http://www.counterpunch.org/whitney07052006.html
I don't really give a shit what Cheney is doing. I have never really been that impressed with him and just don't see him as some kind of mastermind. Yeah, he has the snide attitude backing up a dogmatic philosphy but never really heard him say anything that struck me as super intelligent. Dude shot his hunting partner. All that investing crap was probably the work of a top rated accountant based upon tech shit that has to do with being the VP and the rules of not having interest in somthing that might look sketchy.
Checkmate your way to shallow. Dig a little deeper yes the corporations are hollowed out and the bastards at the top are going to laugh all the way to the bank. But that is because they saw the inevitable. Manufactoring in America was taken down 20 years ago by the unions.
Reagan tax cuts and then second Bush tax cuts are two of the biggest boons for private owned businesses in the history of this nation. Almost all the major players in the franchise arena that you see today are a direct product of Ronald Reagan economic policy. Now its happening again this country has been through the ringer for almost 8 years now and through it all including tax cuts federal revenues are actually increasing is that not mind boggling? Twice in history now it have been factually proven that lowering taxes helps business and increases overall federal revenue. The first time some would think it excusable to call it a glitch. Now it has happened again and this time under extreme duress to our nation.
Funny thing I heard the otherday, Mexican points at builbord, Look, Ese' they got the Bo-han-gles in North Carolina!"
How did the mexican get free of his restraints to see the billboard? Are you not taking all the safety precautions during Mexican Bunjee Jumping again Dwaine?
Damn Joe, once again you fail to see the big picture. Keep stabbing in the dark, maybe you'll find it. Or maybe you should leave all the thinking to us fresh, young minds and stick with what you do best: suck.
I was talking about manufacturing, which is what you made a comment about. Nice try on the strawman argument though. You argued effectively against a point no one ever made. Take that you non-existent entity.
Reagan and Clinton specifically, by opening up the borders with free-trade agreements, they allowed manufacturing jobs to be sent overseas for cheaper labor. You blame it on the Unions, but the fact of the matter is that even non-union jobs were lost because labor in the United States is just too costly. Of course, you're going to blame that on Labor Unions, but the fact of the matter is that OSHA and their accompanying labor laws are a good thing, and save people's lives and allow them to live healthy productive lives outside of work. Of course, lowly peons don't deserve livable wages, because they're expendable. You can always pick up more laborers.
Well if you look at the big picture and you are in a way; yes labor was to expensive so that the companies were going down anyways. Opening the boarders to free trade allowed them to survive. Those jobs created south of our boarder help out the Mexican economy. Trust me Dio we don't want a third world country to our South. Do you think that isolationism is the answer?
I never said it was a bad thing. Don't put words in my mouth. I simply think you're laying blame on the wrong doorstep. I think unions have done some damage to manufacturing, but not nearly as much as you are saying. I personally think that the dip that's going to happen in the American standard of living due to the loss of manufacturing to other countries is going to be a good thing. We consume way to many disposable products. The incredible largess of the post-war boom is going to wear off eventually, and we won't be able to spend the way we do. That's a good thing. Eventually I'd like to see the elimination of disposable goods, and have them replaced with higher quality, longer lasting goods. If you'd read Marx you'd understand why, but you're far too entrenched in your 50's era bullshit about Marx being a totalitarian shithead.
