I'm definitely getting this. Watched some videos, apparently Arthur can not only double-jump and fire his weapon straight up, but can also cling to the edge of a platform and pull himself up. This is exactly what I need. Official site (Japanese)
I wasted HOURS on that game! I don't have a psp, and that's how it's going to stay--there aren't enough games right now that I like, and I hear horrible things about the load times.
Y'kno, I heard something today that kinda pissed me off... It seems that every 'new' game you play on your PSP will update your operating system to the latest version, in an attempt to fuck up the homebrew/emulation shit that runs on the 1.5 software... Apparently they're at V2.6 or something - I just hope that Capcom games don't do that shit. I'm all gung-ho for the game, but I won't buy it if it prevents me from playing all my NES/SNES/Gen roms on my PSP...
I remember the 8-bit Ghost's and Goblin's being particularly difficult. Do you know anything about the learning curve on this one. It's also possible that the 8-bit version was really difficult because I was 6 at the time, but still.
No, it really is that hard. Takes a ton of patience to get through it. I've never beaten that game, but I have beaten Ghouls 'n Ghosts (Genesis) and Super G'nG (SNES). Seems that when any series progresses, the games become easier and easier. GnG on the Genesis added the ability to fire upward (and straight down during a jump), then SGnG on the SNES took that away and replaced it with a nifty double-jump, and this next installment keeps both of those and adds a climbing feature. I fear that the game won't be as hard as the 16-bit versions, but who knows... There's a great disc available for the Xbox, "Capcom Classics" or something like that - it's got a ton of old Capcom arcade games on it, including all these GnG predecessors. Definitely worth picking up for $20-30.
It is. On the SNES you had to go through the game once to beat the boss to get an item that would let you beat the game for real (and you get to start over from the begining!) Took three of us bored teenagers one all nighter to do it.
I remember in the original you could only kill Lucifer with the cross, but there were about a million other weapons you could pick up on the way. That was pretty frustrating.
