You can't get the oil without pushing a bunch of people out of the way. Now, we can't push the rich Saudis around, but happily there's plenty of poor folk still stumbling around after Saddam dropped the gas on them. They'll do for now. So the US effectively colonises Iraq, in order to tear its resources out. The few rich in the country get the opportunity to be complicit. The poor can go fuck themselves. But just make sure it's all dressed up as the best thing since the last Crusades for the folks back home, because otherwise you'd have them poor Negroes and white trash identifying with the dispossessed.
