I will stick with the 10" powered sub and the tite 750 speaker system. I can rattle shit off the wall. Remember bigger is not always better. Its what you do with it.
Thanks... It's been good to me for about 7 years now, occasionally it gets picky over CDs, and one time I had a cop going through my house and he turned the volume down on it - I think he must've hit it or something, because after that the volume knob hasn't ever worked right. Fucker.
i've found that taking the case off and cleaning the laser with nail-varnish-remover helps solve the picky cd problem... and my volume doesn't work either.. i just use the remote if i need to change it.. though i only use it on my pc which has plenty volume controls of it's own
Since you are all masturbating over electronics on this thread, I decided to give my 2 cents as well. I am currently building a HTPC based on my state-of-the-art Sony VPLVW100. I have just brought the Silver Stone Lascala Series LC18 for $900.00 AUD. I probably overpayed slightly, but I didn't know where else to get one in this backward anti-technology country, and I wanted something with a decent display on the front for effects, and you can't go past a 7" LCD touch screen. I am looking at a Thermaltake TR2 430W dual fan power supply. The second fan under the power supply should help get all the heat out of the enclosure. I will be putting in a Pioneer DVR-104 DVD Player/recorder with space for Blu-ray when it comes down in price. I'll also have a couple of 500GB SATA drives for recording to hard disk, and I'll probably run Windows XP MCE on it. I have been looking at Atomic "computer geeks 'r' us" magazine for some ideas (I get some strange looks on the bus reading that), and I will probably go an AMD mobile-solution (for cooler running) and about 1GB of DDR RAM. This doesn't need to be fast, so no need for anything above a 2500+ processor and 1GB of DDR3200 memory should be more than enough. I'll also throw in a network card for future movie downloads when Blockbuster goes online and you'll be downloading your movies (rather than driving to a video store, only to find some prick rented the last copy of The Butterfly Effect), and of course for lazy-asses like me, online shopping. This is the first time I am actually excited about my new entertainment system, because I get to build it. I think I am even more excited than my boyfriend.
That's positively brilliant. I remember having this idea for a media type PC years ago, and have (slowly, but surely) transforming it into a reality - then I go into a computer store for the first time in about a year and see that HP has taken (what I refer to as) my idea to a new level and incorporated everything I did in with DVR, HD box, etc... Since I posted this thread, I acquired a new monitor, a Samsung TFT LCD (it's a bigger screen than that 15" CRT in the picture, and I've gone from 800x600 to 1024x768). The monitor looks great - and now I've got the means to upgrade from the Aiwa to a pair of 16's and not worry about the screen getting messed up. I just wonder if the magnets might interfere with the computer? Aren't HDDs affected by magnetic fields? :?:
HDD are affected by magnetic fields, but speakers don't put out that large of a field that it should be a problem. Just move them away from the tower a foot, maybe 2, and you should be fine.
I wondered when you'd notice that... You daaaaaawg, you... Hey man, when are we going to be out for some more pink tacos without cheese? I'm only worried because the speakers I'll be using are a few years old, weigh 47 lbs. each, and have such large magnets that they fucked up the color on my computer monitor from about 10 feet away. Hmmm... maybe they house some radioactive isotope... That would explain the sudden hair loss...
