In my opinion Jim was, and is, a sociopath. He exploited others to meet his personal needs.

He is what is known as a "cluster B" personality disorder. He manifests symptoms of Anti-Social, Histrionic, and Narcississtic PD.

Did I mention that I really don't like TV evangelists?

Barry I read the thread and that seems like it could be a fairly accurate description of Jim Baker.

I think fake evangelist do the most harm to Christianity then any. Atheist could ever dream. Then again who’s to say Jim Baker is not an atheist really?

Personally it really scares me when I see good people being duped by those types because I try not to judge them but I honestly believe that people who are divinely enlightened with the spirit of Christ see right through that fake crap. Not that they judge it its just as plain and obvious to me ad I see my hands typing right now.

I hate the fact that most preachers on tv make all Christians look bad. I am a UU, but I have struggled for a long time to get over my prejudice against Christians, for the most part successfully, but these pieces of human waste make it awfully difficult at times. But there are a few out there that I actually enjoy listening to..Joyce Meyers is one..actually got to hear and see her speack 'live' in 99, and it was a privilege..and in person, she is a very gracious woman full of warmth. It is people like her that make me realize that just like you can't judge a book by it's cover, so you can't judge all Christians by the actions of the loudest and most obnoxious of them. ;)

Yeah, sometimes I have to step back and rethink my outlook I believe you have to generalize and generally I do not trust them no apologies for that. But like you said not all are bad.
