    Here's the deal:

I got a laptop at work with WinXP Home on it, and I need to bypass the sign-in screen where it asks for a password. It starts up with the guy's name and asks for a password, and I tried using the "Administrator" logon name without a password, and it tells me that it can't log me in due to an 'account restriction.'

Is there any way I can bypass all this shit and reset the passwords, or do I have to do a complete reformat and install a new copy of Windows?

    Thanks in advance...

its simple, you have to call microsoft, with your bullshit password, tell them you had to restall, and it wont accept your code. the fucktard with ask you to read off the front of your windows XP disk, say " Windows XP professional, "GENUINE"" makesure to say "GINUINE" then they will give you like a 15 didgit code to enter in

Will this work with the sticker that's on the bottom of the laptop? I have a 'product key' and another number that's only 14 digits long...

find out which verson of XP you got, pro, or home, then just do a google for serials... they have two types of keys now, a single user liscnse and a OEM (which could have upto 2000 users on it) so just pick anyone, it dosent matter, as long as it is or was an orignal code, and matches the version of doze you have (pro or home)

exactly, but they will ask for the code you are using also, but the KEY is, they will say "please read the CD you have verbatim, I have one it says " upgrade, do not make illegal copies of this disk, includes sevice pack one, version 2002, thisprogram willsearch your system to confirm your eligibility for this upgrade edition, 1985-2001 Microsoft corporation, all rights reserved 0502 part no. x08-88344 microsoft windows xp home edition guniune microsoft"

the ginuine will shift to microsoft in the light

Just restart your computer, pressing F8 until a bootup menu is seen. Start it in "Safe Mode", and log into the "Administrator" account. If the computer came pre-installed with Windows XP Home, it should have no password set. Go into control panel, users, click your username, and then click "change password" (enter nothing to remove it).

I had this problem with a PC once and after a little research we found this program to dload and burn to a cd that bypasses the password and lets you reset it. After I get home from work I'll take a look for this if you are interested.

I was going to reformat, but all I have is an XP disc, not the restore/reformat CDs from the manufacturer. I'd like to see what programs are on the computer first, and of course, check for porn. ;)

Why don't you use the internet. I simply typed "linux password bypass" and pasted the first on I saw on it. It took me about 15-20 minutes of looking when this happned to me about a year ago. I'd love to hold your hand through this process but I have dinner to cook.

wtf? i don't need to bypass the password you dick... like i said i solved this problem by formatting... you were linking to a workaround for lomo that turned out to be a way to disable a bios password... totally not what he needs...

can you see the incongruity here...

    enjoy your food bitch
