Why the hell is NASA wasting money going back to the Moon? Whats the point did we not get this out of our system in the 70's?

Should we not be shooting for orbiting another planet?

    Or something usful?

A moon-based colony would supposedly help make the journey to Mars easier. I hear there is all kinds of alien Technology up there, too.

Assuming we went to the moon in the first place...

What I don't understand is with the current administration focus on tax cuts and the private sector, why don't they throw an x prize on a private company that can land useable piece of hardware on the moon. The private sector is much more efficient and nimble, so why is this not being done?

I have it on good authority that the moon is not really there. It is a hologram projected from another planet outside of our solar system. The back side is used as a cosmic billboard, with changing advertisements.

I am positive about this. If it were really there Haliburton would have a contract for a Moon Restoration Project by now.

Seriously, the moon could be an extremely useful staging point for future missions to other planets and other solar sytems. Personally I think that we would be better off investing all of that money into developing the materials necessary to build a space elevator, but going back to the moon could still be usefull, at least theorectically. Assuming that this moon talk is not just a political ploy.

A space elevator is a valid concept, look it up ass. If you're not going to bother being informed then don't talk. All you would have to do is google search it, it's not like I'm proposing some whacked out concept, look it up.

Dude, it is pretty whacked out, seriously. A lot of stupid ideas have gotten a fair amount of attention before, this wouldn't be the first. I've heard of the space elevator, and I thought it was stupid too.

I'm just saying develope the materials. Carbon nano-tubes have more uses than just ribbons, based on what could be done with them you'd get back much more for the investment than you would from sending solid state rockets to the moon. Check out a company called "Space Exploration Technologies." They're revamping the way we look at rockets. Space travel doesn't need to be this massive in-efficient project. I just want people to look at other options than the solid state booster rockets they're using at NASA now. Build something new, and if it doesn't work than use the technology developed for something else. Space travel is in a rut right now in the United States because it's run by huge in-efficient companies. Let's make for a little interesting competition. Like poker with space rockets, or elevators.

We went to the moon. You were drunk that night. We took turns taking pictures of you with our cocks in your mouth and putting your hand in warm water.

    Ass.

I agree the tax cuts were dumb. If you give 300 million jackasses a $300 check, you've basically just made 300 million minimum credit card payments. If you invest that money in... oh... say... Alternative engergy or space exploration, you've actually created a new industry.

But that's the way things are with a religious zealot in the white house.

GW worships at the house of Reagan. Tax cuts good, government spending bad.
