For some strange reason, I thought I'd go to work early today, just in case I saw something worth buying before I started...

I've dreamt of this day for many, many moons... Walking down the main aisle, scouting out the back area for some more speakers or what-not... when, all of a sudden, my jaw drops as I see a marquee coming into focus... I stop for a moment, as my eyes widen and I pick my jaw back up... speechless. AND THE DREAM HAPPENED TODAY!!!

And there it stood, in all it's glory...

    [image]http://www2.webmagic.com/klov.com/images/E/cElevator_Action.jpg[/image]

I only had about five minutes to look at it before I signed on, but it was long enough to find that it had the monitor, all the buttons/joystick, game board, and power supply (looks like someone installed a newer switcher at some point).

It's a crying shame that 'the boss' was working today. Yes, the same one that wouldn't sell me the Playboys... The one that wants to get as much as she can for anything sold. She had a $99 price tag on it. I'm still wondering if I did the right thing by getting it... Hell, I just hauled it home and I haven't even plugged it in yet. I'd be out there now messing with it if I didn't have to open tomorrow at 7:30 AM.

The cabinet is solid for the most part, sideart 90% intact, coin door is great, has the original "Taito" etching on the glass above the monitor, and the marquee looks perfect. I found tax stickers on it from '82-'87, and apparently it came from the Houston area. The bottom of the cabinet will probably need a little work, from the sides it looks ok, but when I tilted it to load onto the truck, I noticed the bottom board was a little loose.

Apparently, the guy that dropped it off said "We just never play it anymore... It works, but all it needs is a fuse..." (Translated: "I don't know what the fuck is wrong with it, but I didn't want to find out.")

So, with my 15% discount, it came out to $85. Did I do good on this, or should I have risked losing it by letting it sit out on the floor for a few days? The weekend's upon us, I'm thinking someone would probably have bought it before Monday...

    What do y'all think?

That was in response to 1337, btw...

Rat, maybe you're right. I should probably just quit school right now anyway - it'd give me a hell of a lot more time to work on every one of these projects I seem to be acquiring...

Yeah, I remember Bubble Bobble... I've got that on NES, and on my Dreamcast NES emulator (with sequels). Also have "Rainbow Islands" on the Turbografx-16 (Bubble Bobble 3).

BTW: This makes my 6th 'classic' arcade game.

Say, about that butter, could you make it margarine - I'm on a diet...

Do you mean the original one that was a left to right scroller? You had to stop the aliens from picking up the little green men from the floor or they turned nasty?
Or was it this one: http://users2.ev1.net/~rik1138/Grandstand/Scramble.htm

I have one of these in it's original box, one went for £120.00 on e-bay the other week. (I picked it up at a car boot sale a few years ago for £4.00

One of my games is quite similar to Scramble (and no, Stymie, you're thinking about either "Defender or "Stargate (Defender II)") - It's called "Cosmic Avenger."

Maybe I can train you in the art of soldering and you can help me keep these babies running...

While you're at it, can you get the multimeter out, hook it up, and adjust the potentiometer so that the B+ voltage is right at 120V on the Ms Pacman? Thanks. A blowjob would be nice, too.
