I don't see a conspiracy either. It's true that the polar bear population is decreasing in some areas due to climate changes. Particularly the melting of sea ice due to global warming. No Sea Ice = no seals = no polar bears. However, for the time being they are on the "threatened" list because of their population size. If it drops, they go right back to "endangered". OK I'm confused. What list does Sarah Palin want the Polar Bears listed on? Endangered or Threatened? If the polar bears are booming, then they don't need to be on the Endangered list. Because there are 25,000 or less and their food supply is depleted.... they are currently on the "threatened" list. The next step up is "Near Threatened".... which is where they will be soon if they keep multiplying.
I think she wants them on the 'ok to hunt' list. The numbers of Polar Bears is at its greatest over the last 100 years. Which will create more contact with Humans which will lead to 'incidents'. While population control hasnt been instituted on the human race (yet) by removing the polar bears natural predators (I dunno what it would be) their numbers are growing. Im not a geophysicist but I understand a very simple principle, the more the ice caps melt the more moisture vaporizes into the atmosphere, the more rain we get, the cooler the temperatures get, the ice cap grows (I believe it is growing now). The downside is we wont have 'seasons' like normal. Summer and winter will be longer and spring and fall almost non-existent. The hottest times I can remember were in the summers around 96-97 when temps were in the 100s for days on end. When it was in the upper 90s by 10 oclock. The crappy thing is the hottest day in history (recorded) was like in 1908 (or so) when it hit 108 degrees. Very rarely do our coldest days even compete with the coldest recorded days. This planet will kill us all off eventually, and then things will get back to normal for it.
