I found a clip to a pistol not too long ago, and it wasn't until recently, that I figured out what it actually goes to. (It took me a while to find, but I'm betting others that post here might be able to ID it quicker than I could.) I'm going to post a few pictures, and see if anyone here either recognizes, or can research what model pistol this goes to... Hints will be provided, should the need arise...
If I gave the caliber, it'd give the whole thing away... You were close in the Luger design, & the alliance of said government to that which produced, and armed their soldiers with, during that time period, but... You're getting even closer..........
Either you're baiting your prey like a housebroken cat until it breathes it's final gasp of air, or you give up. Either way, it leaves the game open to any other competitor without a pacman reference... (No offense, GAS, I still like video games... See? Look at my sig! See? See? - Now watch me snipe that pie-shaped pellet bandit at 300 yds...)
I would guess the mp40, or the later mp3008 Machine Pistol. Either would make a nice addition to a quality collection.
Sadly, it's for neither. Those would be nifty additions, although I understand the 3008 was crudely manufactured, but either probably has a place in the aforementioned Carleton Heston armory... I know... Wow. Just fucking wow. Just look at the vault entrance... I've seen banks with less secure doors: As far as the "Mystery Clip" goes... We need to shift our focus to a different "Theater..." Time frame is dead-on, in fact, this *pistol* saw official service until 1945... Another hint... My dad actually has one of the US designed/manufactured pistols that was inspired by this particular pistol, albeit in a different caliber... I'm practically giving the answer away now...
The Answer: Japanese, 8x22 mm, Nambu Semi-automatic Pistol, Type 14. In production from 1925-1945, and inspired Ruger to make his Mark I, II, @ III's...
