I pretty much hate the new music that is out there except for Band of Horses. I can't wait until their next album!
Band of Horses has been around for about 4 years. They were all in different groups before that so they aren't new musicians, but Band of Horses is pretty new. You could say that they are kinda in an indie/folk rock genre, I guess. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibE7IqEjni4&feature=related This song was in a Ford Edge commercial and I think a show or two.
Just picking some stuff from my Zune: Band of Horses Built To Spill Cake Elliott Smith Evan Dando Grand Archives Grant Lee Buffalo The Gutter Twins The Lemonheads Modest Mouse (their old stuff and Ugly Cassanova is better) Pavement (Stephen Malkmus is my hero) School of Fish (RIP Josh) Sebadoh (awesome band... if you haven't ever listen to them, do it now) Son Volt (the lead singer called my husband repulsive in Italy years ago) Sonic Youth Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks Styx (They make me happy) Treepeople Uncle Tupelo (see SonVolt) Varsity Drag Yo La Tengo I like a bunch of other stuff, but I was just skimming through.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: The Misfits, Clutch and Mindless Self Indulgence. My personal trifecta of awesome!

Band of Horses makes me happy. I love Elliott Smith. If he really did kill himself, goddamn, he had a set of balls. Can you imagine stabbing yourself in the chest with a steak knife? You are in the medical field. What do you think? Suicide? Murder? http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/esmithaut1.html
You said it! If he really did kill himself he had a HUGE set of balls. What i'am curious about is the girlfriend states she saw "two cuts on his chest". Someone gets stabbed in the chest with their shirt on, they are going to have blood all over their clothing. So how could she know how many stab wounds he actually had? Maybe she lifted his shirt and noted these cuts, but the report does not state this. It simply states she pulled the knife out and saw them, then called 911. I would think this would be important information, especially since the knife now has her fingerprints on it. I have read up on suicide in forsenic books and in the case of suicides by cutting, I have read of hesitation wounds, less severe cutting marks caused by attempting to build up courage before attempting the final, fatal wound. There are none noted in this case. On what I have read it looks like he was murdered.
I don't know anything about this, but if he was wearing clothing and was stabbed twice, she may have noticed two openings in the shirt, therefore two cuts, despite the bloodstains...just an outsider's input. Haha :]
