No wonder the top echelons of society produce so many messed up, perverted freaks with the deepest contempt for all life.

That really is interesting. Its not just rich people that shouldn't be having kids either. There are plenty of low income people that don't need to be breeding either

Yeah, but they're always the primary target for comments like that anyway, which is what makes this interesting.

Who's to say who shouldn't have kids or not. Sure rich people have a more demanding job, but that's not to say that they can't also participate in the miracle that is child birth. It's unwise yeah, but at the same time you can't stop it.

Right now, we would be good if everyone just kind of stopped having kids, the population crisis is way too high now.

    How sad. Those poor kids!

Of course, there are shitty parents in every demographic, and plenty of wealthy people do an excellent job of parenting. They're not the ones with full-time nannies, so the author of that article would never have come in contact with them.

The most depressing thing about that article is that the author probably is a far better writer than that, and it was edited down to read like a 6th-grade summer vacation essay. There's a subject for social commentary, if you want one.

Yeah I hate it when paragraphs become mere sentances and it did read like someone with a short attention span but I'll have to agree that you get a mixed bag of parents in all classes.

For example: me, my mum left when I was about 5, my dad carried on looking after me, he worked to bring me up and we were still generally poor, I didn't turn out a thief or a hooligan or a little shit. I'll have to admit though I didn't turn out that ambitious, but in the state of current affairs, thats not really the best thing anyway considering money is the root of all evil, in retrospect I'm quite happy I didn't turn out a shallow, air headed, money grabbing man-bimbo. I'm generally well educated and intelligent.

On the other hand, my friend at school, had 2 working parents, was generally a lot better off than me and turned into a bit of a big bruiser, only doing heavy manual labour jobs and not really engaging his brain at all.

That's sad. Of course, less wealthy parents can't afford nannies so we don't have the same research available of this misconstrued "surrogate" parenting.

I have some neighbors (two men - partners) who are raising a 3 year old girl. I hope she doesn't end up a poo-poo Picasso as well.

I seriously doubt that being raised by a gay couple was responsible for the kid's shit-painting. Could have been the result of divorce issues. The nanny did mention that the mother seemed like a generally good, loving parent, and took him to counseling and had him evaluated by a child development specialist. I don't know about the ADD thing, supposedly I have ADD but I never painted with shit.

I agree. I didn't expect the article's title to be taken literally by anyone except Joeslogic, and he's so crazy it doesn't count.
