Portals from Orange box is simply put, Amazing. I have not been lost for words from a game in a long time from first play. The applications of the portal system in a future FPS and what you could do is limitless. Using the source engine it really really is. I was thinking about it last night and the application. I mean say your pinned down by 6 guys out of nades. You look behind you and see an explosive barrel. You shoot a portal above the guys shoot a port under the barrel. Whip out the hand gun shoot the barrel and blam. So freaking cool.
