How would you categorize that movie? Satire? Honestly I do not know but I like movies that .... I dun no, poke fun I guess at the eccentricity of people.
Yeah, I guess, but I didn't laugh at all except at one part at the end when the little girl told the pageant where her grandpa was. It wasn't interesting or beautiful like American Beauty.
Just watched it last night. It was quirky and about not much other than character development. I did actually laugh when they had to drive through the gas station parking lot at 15 MPH and pick up the little girl on the fly. I thought they did a good job a tying various events and objects back into the story like the porn mags, the bad clutch, ice cream, etc. The pageant sequence was not what I expected but perhaps that was the point. I liked Steve Carell in a (semi) serious role. In fact, all the actors did well selling their respective parts. Of particular note, in a conversation in the hotel between the Olive and Granpa, the little girl does a great job with the tear factory. It doesn't end cleanly. Several issues remain in this dysfunctional family but it seems they are indeed a family and just might make it.
It's not something that I would want to watch again. Movies were people refuse to talk annoy me. I could have reached through the screen and strangled that boy.
Yeah, it drove me a little nuts, too. I would have shoved that little note pad up his ass. But, he talked eventually.
His little outburst was annoying and I would have left his semi-retarded ass by the side of the road.
I thought that's what they should have done but when he apologized and did the right thing, I warmed up to him a little.
Come on, he was colorblind, I mean that is worth a temper tantrum......yea, but id have drove off too. Been like, 'hey, homes that way' scrreeeeeeech....
