I am having a problem with drug seeking hooligans setting off my alarm system. They think that we have drugs here. I have to do a walk through afterwards, which is usually 2:00AM. I would just like to feel a little safer while I am checking locks in the dark.

Police don;t monitor alarm systems. They might respond eventually to an alaram, but they get upset when they are always "false". Mine haven't been false. We had two with evidence of forced entry, and the others were motion detectors that appear to have been tripped by someone sliding a piece uf metal around the door. The dentist next door as been hit twice, both for drugs. I have to respond to reset the alarm, and I don't feel like getting ambushed at 2:00AM

ADT. It monitored by them. One cut phone line kills it. Useless.

My cameras are on an uninterruptable power supply. I pity the fool that cuts the power and phone, and thinks that he has beat the system.

 

Have not checked in years but surely the new ones use cellular. Anyways if you have something worth having there are always ways. Like signal jamming with is why I would prefer a battery backed up wired system but with the wires strategically run. But a cellular calling or paging system is also in order. Barry you should setup a man trap. Make that front porch area enclosed in bullet proof glass. Have a 5000 lb magnetic door lock on the front door. Have the alarm wired to trigger the door lock. At the same time have a little sitting area with a table and some sort of decorative piece. Have a system where it opens and ejects one of Dwaine's pieces with the serial ground off.

Now you have a criminal caught in a tank like some pet in an aquarium. And an illegal gun in his hand.

everybody should have a "throwdown" I have read about alarm systems that run on WiFi, and cellular, with a 2 hour back up battery supply (made by APC) I think most police shrug alarms off, because of the false alarms.

First of all if there is anything valuable enough to need the sophisticated approach of a high tech alarm system. Then it warrants a sophisticated approach to gain access. Casing a place and harassing the police with false alarms and logging response times as well as response actions is rather sophomoric for a professional criminal. That comes right after scanning police radio channels 101. The next step is the same old distraction one two combo. Know some hookers in the across the other side of the precinct that want to earn a few dollars. I'll bet ten to one that redneck police department has minuscule control over what its officers are doing on shift. A bet they regularly meet for B.S. sessions at some commonly known location every night at ~ 2:00 am. I also bet that as soon as they hear of some drunk prostitute fight in the red light district they all drive over to catch a piece of the action. I do not recommend looking for favors from this bunch but if your connected to the right people. The ones who front legit night clubs and such as legit places of business and hire the cops to make extra cash guarding parking lots and such. Well put it this way they make sure the cops they hire are where they are supposed to be. No worries there. Just worry about making a deal with the devil cause then he owns your soul or is at least interested in getting it.

Screw paging out to the police department. Send the alarm alert to yourself.
