PRICHARD, Ala. -- Prichard Police have been investigating a missing baby case. Police say the mother of a 4-week-old gave the baby up for adoption, but changed her mind. Now she wants to get her little girl back, but no one can find the infant.

The mother of a missing 4-week-old baby was in tears begging for help,18-year-old Geretha Tyese Lewis told FOX10 News she made a big mistake, "I gave her up because I felt it was the best thing for me and her both because I felt like I couldn't take care of her like other people." It was a decision Lewis now regrets.

Prichard Police Chief Lawrence Battiste said, "She met what she thought was an adoption agency and turned the baby over to them for adoption."

Investigators are making a desperate plea to the public, to help find 4-week-old Zarial Bren-Ai Lewis Farris. Lewis says she gave her daughter to a Daphne adoption agency called Agape. Lewis added, "I found them through a social service worker at USA Children & Women, my first impression was they were a legitimate agency."

Lewis changed her mind about the adoption and wanted her child back. "The paper work said if she changed her mind within 10 to 14 days, she could get her baby back and we're well within that time frame" explained Battiste. But Lewis says she shredded the paperwork, because she didn't want a reminder of what she did.

Police say Tuesday afternoon, Lewis set up a meeting to get her baby back...but no one ever showed. Since then, police and family members attempted to call the agency numerous times.

Battiste says they haven't been able to make contact with anyone in the agency or corroborate Lewis' story. It's unsure where the baby was taken, or if she's in danger.

"I'm just concerned about my baby, I just want my baby back" Lewis added. FOX10 News tried to contact the agency but was also unable to get a hold of anyone.

Police are investigating every aspect of this case including foul play. Now they're jut asking if anyone has seen the little girl or knows any information about the case, please call Prichard Police.

 

I bet this turns out to be a case of the mother lying. No agency is going to just "take" a baby. I bet that the mother traded the baby for a crack rock.

Call me judgmental. I call it reality based thinking.

 

She probably put it in a trash bag and left it in a dumpster and is trying to cover her ass.

 

I see we are all a pessimistic bunch. I am betting on black market baby trading, she now regrets it because she is back with her 'baby's daddy'. Of course she spent the 3k she got for the baby, but that's okay, she shouldnt have to pay it back no how.....

 

Reminds me of the bitch who tried to trade her baby for a down payment on a 2000 Dodge Intrepid.

 

you've got to be kidding me. see, my mom thinks we should all be sterilized until we can prove that we're intelligent enough and financially stable enough to take care of another human being. sounds good, but who decides who is intelligent enough? and financially stable? i certainly wouldn't be here, probably the majority of us wouldnt be here.

I hate label whores. There are so many better ways to spend your money than on a $800 purse. Somehow these people think that if they buy a designer pair of sunglasses or whatever, they are going to become better-looking, more popular and closer to the "stars". What the fuck ever.

I worked with bitch whom I used to call the "Label Whore" to her face. I think she took pride in it. The thing is, you could take the ugliest shirt from Walmart and switch the tags and the bitch would buy the Walmart shirt just because it had the designer tag. It has nothing to do with style and everything to do with the fake sense of superiority.
