Would any of you buy a repo car? Have any of you? I will get flamed for this but I have been wanting a Pontiac Aztek and I found a really nice repo. It looks like it has been taken care of but you never know the mentality of the person who had their car taken away. I used to think that the Aztek was hideous, but after checking the inside of one out, I started to like them and the look has grown on me. Plus, so many people hate them, it makes me like them even more. AND you get really good deals on them because they were such a failure for GM that they don't hold their value for shit. Thoughts?
I dont think there is an issue with buying a repo. Other than if they didnt pay for the car they probably didnt get the oil changed either. I do have a problem with buying an Aztec, that thing looks like someone put HGH in a CRX and then beat it with the ugly stick. But hey it's your money....
I read that it looked like a Lemans and a Montana's offspring. It's on a minivan chasis. It kinda had to look funky to make it work. It only has 32k miles and they tinted the windows super dark (embarrassment?) and put on vent visors and stuff. It's look really nice, but the bank wants to clean it up before anyone looks at it. I would take it as it is. The Azteks have over a 9 consumer review rating on Edmunds. It would be higher if people who thought it was ugly wouldn't have pretended to own one just so they could write a review saying how ugly it is. I'll join the Aztek cult following. It has a lot of cool features that no other car or SUV has.
Thats good that you are buying functionality over looks. Just look at the maj, he gets deployed and comes back to a mini-van.......talk about good looks and performance too(the mini-van). My uncle has an aztec and I just cant get past the looks, or passed them. He really likes it though. You think with all those flat edges it would be invisible to radar, or laser for that matter, kind of like the stealth fighter....
Just don't pay more than rough book. Go to Kelly Blue Book, and put in the values for a used car. No repo is worth more than used rough book.
The van is just so practical. Good mileage, drives smoothly, and I can put all my gear and luggage in the back when on duty (plus a guitar). I probably need a truck but I can't bring myself to do it. I'll drive a van but I draw the line at pickup.
Uh, what the hell is wrong with a pickup???? Are you thinking that once you get a truck, the nascar stickers are next?
NASCAR stickers, gunrack, tennis ball on the antenna, tobacco spit down the side, yeah that's where it starts. I'm not a truck person. I'm not a van person either but I already owned the van. I'll get another SUV because I'm superficial and that's how we roll on the Eastern Shore.
I like the SUV, I just have to haul so much stuff that it isnt practical. Plus when we go camping I have to have somewhere to stow the bikes, grill, cooler full o' beer........the occasional fishing pole.
the aztec's and festiva's ,aand aspire 3 cylinder cars. A friend and I were going to start the TCRL "Three Cylinder racing League" and race these greased up econo-monkies. I think we should still.
Dwaine, if you get a festiva I will start calling you the 'fat chick' cause that's all that drives them things......those and Geo Metros, why the biggest girls get the smallest cars I will never know.
Yeah, I have already looked that up. I did "Private Party" value because I think it is more like buying from Joe Blow than a dealer and that knocks the price down. It's also a 2003, so if it is a one owner, it should be mostly paid off. I also go to auto trader all of the time, so I know what they go for both private party and dealer. This is what it looks like. There are uglier vehicles on the road:
at least it isnt the maroon with plastic all over it. I have to say though, if I were in a life or death situation, and this thing showed up as the ambulance, I would die before riding in it.....
I was also looking at a Dodge Stratus coupe. But the plastic grill really turned me off. Half of it is black plastic made to look like a grill.
It looks better than a Scion or Element. The Aztek is ok looking but do-able. Kind of like you, Nauseous. I keed......
Great, as if you stalking me in your depends wasnt bad enough, now I have to worry about getting run down by the ugliest car EVAR! The aztec makes this thing look PIMP....yea, I think it is the 'levis' edition....
I'm looking at a new car, and I'm getting partial towards a few Dodges. I've always liked the Aztek, but just don't see that many around. The cars I've been considering lately are the Calibur, Charger, and the new "Avenger" - I'm leaning towards either the Charger (wagon version), or the Avenger.
