I started to watch "Sicko" - but couldn't even get past the credits.

So, this fella's trying to make me feel sorry for some asswipe because he's sewing up his own knee with a needle and thread. Bullshit! I say give that man a medal! It gives me faith in our country to see someone as industrial as this walking amongst us. If only more people would take responsibilities for their mistakes and fix them by themselves, maybe we wouldn't be in such "trouble." Then there's the moron that we all owe a favor to because he's too stupid to keep his hand away from the sharp part of his saw - and now, due to his incompetence, the burden of his expensive surgery should fall upon the taxpayers' shoulders.

I'd planned a lengthy diatribe on the matter, but I'm heading out the door in a few minutes. Suffice it to say, I'm thinking the director should just move to Cuba. I'm sure he'd be happier there.

Lomo, you really need to watch the film. it's a real eye opener, the asswipe sewing himself shut is the only dumbass in the film. It's not a movie about people without health care, it's about people who have health care. Wait until you see France's health system. Amazing. 100% free, even 24 hour house calls, with 45 minute waits. When I was in my car wreck, and broke my back, I had insurance, full coverage, and had to wait 4 hours to get seen, and pain relief at 7:30 AM. wow, that socialized medicine and the waits.

 

I'll watch it eventually... Just seeing the introduction rubbed me the wrong way. I've never seen a Michael Moore movie, but the cocky, sarcastic way he (if that is him narrating) spoke in the beginning put even Rush Limbaugh to shame - and that man wrote the book on conceited.

 

I have watched 'bowling for columbine' and about 10 minutes of 'farenheit 911' I just cant watch his movies. I understand the issues with healthcare, to a point. I know it sucks that joe schmo gets colon cancer and dies, but daryl strawberry (crackhead extrodinaire) gets it and cause he has money and baseball healthcare he lives. The healthcare system in America is a joke, I knicked(nicked?) an artery on Christmas Eve a couple of years back, freaking blood everywhere, my wife gets me to the ER, my whole left side covered in blood, my forearm wrapped in guaze and masking tape and the mo-fo behind the counter says "It's a mandatory 100.00 copay before we can see him" I have never heard my wife cuss someone so bad. While getting the money out of her purse she was cussing this lady for all she was worth, I was standing there, holding on to the chair, I didnt want to sitdown, cause I was covered with blood and I knew my wife couldnt help me back up again. So she throws a hundred dollar bill at this lady and says "Get the F'ing doctor now" the lady behind the counter says, "Ma'am you dont have to be rude" my wife comes back with, "When I come over this counter and start whipping your ass then I am being rude" of course this is at the 'worst' hospital in the area, which unfortunately was the closest.

I thought it was hilarious, you know how those snotty counter people are, like the chick behind the counter at McDonalds, thinks she is too good to be there and you are bothering her.

 

If he didnt cut and paste stuff to fit his perspective, or try and blame freaking KMart for Columbine (yea, they had a blue light special on bullets so they are to blame, not the parents or the idiot kids and their friends who knew of the plan and didnt tell anyone).

If it gets to showtime or something I may watch it, I just cant see putting forth any effort to get it.

my sister in law lives in spain and goes on about how great it is to have soc.med. she loves it, she's a musician so over here she'd either have no insurance or pay more than 1k/mo for her and her family. there, she's a musician in the orchestra - she's paid incredibly well for that, and the country picks up the tab regardless because she's a musician. plus they get the whole fucking month of august off with pay and dont forget the afternoon siestas.

the only thing that sucks is that here you can pick your dr (to an extent) and there you get who you get. but at least it's paid for. and over there, no one loses their home because they can't pay their medical bills.
