The state of Arizona has recently passed a law that grants the right to police officers to demand a proof of residency or citizenship when encountering a possible illegal immigrant. We all know that illegal immigrants tend to be of Hispanic persuasion in the southern states and it shouldn't come as a shock that some racial profiling will occur. Nevertheless, the new bill has the local democrats agitated and outraged at what they believe to be a human rights violation. Some even went as far as comparing the state of Arizona to Germany during the third Reich.

Someone will not stand for this. Someone will denounce the obvious misuse of the word Nazi ...And that someone happens to be Glenn Beck.

    Here is his quote:
Glenn Beck: "Are you comparing the systematic cold blooded extermination of millions of Jews to America making sure that people are here legally?

That's right, Glenn Beck got outraged at the outrage following the bill.

Usually I would agree that using the word Nazi to demonize political opponents is childish and a total lack of respect for all who died during the conflict; but I was too shocked at Glenn Beck's hypocrisy to even care.

I don't like Glenn Beck, it's nothing new. Even back in the day when he was on CNN I despised him. I dislike him for a very particular reason. Want to know what that reason could be? He calls everyone a Nazi! And I mean everyone.

His hypocrisy is flagrant, for lack of a better word. I could find dozens upon dozens of instances where Glenn Beck inappropriately used the word Nazi.

So here is my thought. The word Nazi should only be used when referring to actual Nazis. Having an ideological or political disagreement should never justify calling your opponent Nazi.

He has done it an number of times, Joe. While "Nazi" might be bad.... i see nothing wrong with being a communist or a facist. Hell.... at least 1/4 of the world is communist. I don't see them as being evil because the government operates differently than ours. If it works for them... keep on. If not... try something else. Hell... facism was the most effective form of government the world ever saw. Too bad those "Nazis" gave it a bad rep.

That is one paranoid fuckhead. I see why he's doing it though. People are terrified of The Thrid Reich. Everyone in the world sees it as the embodiment of evil. Therefore, if someone doesn't agree with him.... compare it to Nazi Germany in the hopes that people will be scared of it or hate it.

Pretty smart actually. The problem with his plan is that smart people see right through it and call him on it.

Why don't we send some holocaust survivors down to Arizona and let them tell us if it's like Nazi Germany? They will more than likely agree with Mr Beck on this issue. Just not on the other 12 or so.

Have not watched it. 6 min of MSNBC = 6 minutes of propaganda bullshit. I'm confident enough of it to say that without even watching it. If I have to though I'm sure I can break it down piece by piece and prove it.

MSNBCs' typical M.O. is to take something about Beck way out of context and then feign as if they do not know this and are extremely and justifiably offended. Then they wrap their propaganda piece up by implying that "There ought to be a law to protect us from ___enter_target_mark_here___. *in this case would be Glen Beck* Their target audience soaks it all in like the sheeple they are.

You're hitting the nail right on the head. Glenn Beck is fully aware that his opinions are hitting home with most people that watch his show. The demographics that his show targets have a cultural hatred of communism and socialism, due chiefly to the fact that they [the viewers] are the descendants of cold war era parents. In other words, he is fanning the flames of a well lit fire.

Opposing health care reform is perfectly fine. Opposing health care reform based on some TV commentator's opinion is not so fine. It's much easier to throw words like communism and socialism around than to sit down and have a genuine talk about it. And that goes for any other subject of national debate, not just health care.

Glenn Beck has politicized everything in order to get his point across. He slammed those children that sang a song about Obama, called them the Hitler Youth (it's in the video), when every single presidency has had a similar event in the past. Kids sang a song to honour Laura Bush (after the hurricane Katrina of all things) and no one made a stink about it. Why? Because no one cared until now. Beck saw it and thought it would make a nice stage for yet another attack on a political adversary. And the sheeples from the right bought it up. Joe and I argued about it in another thread, he was convinced that this time, it was a serious concern and that these kids were being used as propaganda tools.

Bwahahaha! So a video of StarTroopers arriving at the Jedi temple to enforce Order 66 is what's in store for us?

If you want to use the plot of Star Wars as proof, go right ahead. Bwaahaha!
