To understand the gravity of the danger facing Louisiana's coast from the oil that began washing ashore Thursday, pollution clean-up veterans offered this starting point: Forget the word "spill."

"This isn't a spill," said Kerry St. Pe, who headed Louisiana's oil spill response team for 23 years. "This isn't a storage tank or a ship with a finite amount of oil that has boundaries. This is much, much worse."

It's a river of oil flowing from the bottom of the Gulf at the rate of 210,000 gallons a day that officials say could be running for two months or more.

It is not a question of what can anyone do but a question of what or when they tried. And what preparations had they made.

There was a contingency plan from the feds for this type of incident and they were NEVER implemented.

There were "SAFETY REGULATIONS" that were not enforced and safety measures that were not in place.

This cannot be true I pointed out the temperature of the water effecting the CO2 levels of the earths atmosphere and that was already debunked as a myth. I mean Katie Couric never even acknowledged that theory so it cannot be true. Besides if it were then it would totally debunk the man made global warming theory.

"Peak Oil" and "Global Warming" are nonsense as far as I'm concerned. And I only posted the part of the article that was relevant to the question. So do you suspect the rig was sabotaged?

:biggrin: Well the big companies have managed to hold him back from ever getting it to take off. They are touting their synthetic mats as being effective and can be mass produced really fast using chemical fibers. The hair method is more "green" though. Look it can be reused more than synthetics that lose their adsorbing ability after a few used. The hair can be reused several hundred times. Also the hair end then end can decompose naturally the oil in it collected for use. The synthetic fiber mats have a contamination and disposal problem.

Why did they build a containment chamber with a cap that funneled it all to a 6 inch diameter hole to siphon it up with?

It is bad I agree lets keep it real. BP was the biggest Obama campaign contributor and was granted this oil lease and the feds looked the other way so BPs profits would be big. This is just like Tyson in the 90's and Clinton. The competition was regulated the hell out of While Tyson was left alone to make big huge profits. Obama was caught in bed with big oil.
