The article said D&D but thats likely cause someone writing the article puts all fantasy gameing scenarios into the D&D label.

I play a lot of games, I also have some OCD and some ADD.

I have kids, so that takes care of the OCD, however it might add to ADD, since I am always trying to figure out how to get what I want to do done, and what I have to do done.

I would rather build houses all day playing the Sims than just about anything, so maybe I am addicted? I have been building houses for years. I don't do anything creative or abuse drugs, so I guess that is my way of escaping. I find it to be really relaxing. I can't pass by (real) neighborhoods without thinking, "I can build that house." I love houses and buildings, always have and since I will never be an architect, this is the next best thing. The game itself is totally boring, but I love building those damn houses. I am like Sarah Winchester! I don't like other video games because I can't control everything and that makes me very nervous. The Sims is a perfect game for control freaks. Maxis is so smart. They take Sims 2 and then release expansion pack after expansion pack and rake in the $$$.

All addictions aren't bad. Personally, I am addicted to breathing.

Computer/Video addiction is a problem if it disrupts your life. For example, getting fired from a job for being on the internet constantly after being warned several times, or losing a house or car because you aren't working.

Otherwise, it is just a diversion.

Life as we want it, as we knew it, is being torn apart. There is no more family, they turned women against us, they turned children against us. They are turning nations against each other All there is, is corruption and suffering and dissapointment and people want to escape from that.

Its a vicious cycle, I dont see the trend in addictive gaming ceasing unless something radical is changed about society.

I think video games are a way for adults to pretend. Pretending this the best thing I think our minds are capable of.

That's really depressing. I understand wanting a diversion from everyday stresses and issues. I dont think video games are the healthiest way to go about it though. I enjoy exercising, reading, and even yard work as a good way to get away from it all. Working on cars is like medicine to me.

I think a lot of the 'pretending' is what people look for. Anyone can be good at a video game. You dont have to be 6'4" 280 to be a linebacker in Madden 07. You dont have to be a millionaire to drive an enzo ferarri on Forza. I play from time to time, I played a lot more in the past, but I always waited for the kids to go to bed, and I never stayed up later than 12. Now I play once a blue moon. I drove forza for about an hour on monday, other than that nada.

Maybe it's my age....

When video games are a diversion from life, it's ok. When they are a replacement for life, it's a problem. I know guys who do little else but online gaming. That is their social life and, since it's easier than going outside, that probably won't change. One doesn't have to get off the couch anymore. I like video games as escapism just like I enjoy movies, books, and being drunk :) But I still have a life.

I don't want to go camping, though. I've spent enough time in a tent to last me a lifetime.

Talledega is a little too redneck for me. We can hit Charlotte or Atlanta, Darlington is nice too. Talledega is the place where they used to light sticks of dynamite as entertainment after drinking for 10 hours. Of course that really helps thin out the gene pool....

That's such a pussified way of camping. I've done both and there is nothing quite like pitching the tent on a tree root and have it dig into your back all night and peeing in the woods with deer all around you.
