What is the deal with people going crazy at this time of year?
I have been on the phone all day with emergencies. I mean real craziness, with bells and whistles and flashing lights.
What's the deal?

It's fashionable to go crazy around this time. It might also be another one of those holidays where people realize how lonely they are, and then go crazy about that, too.

I spent a good two hours in the parking lot today with the Jewish chick, and one of the things we talked about was her bipolar husband (they're seperated, little to no contact) - he starts to enter his 'worse' phase around this time of year.
Personally... The whole daylight-savings time change gets my vote. Probably fucks people up subconciously. Maybe the days getting shorter has something to do with it, too. Humans are not a nocturnal species by design, maybe the decrease in our usual 'active' time is to blame? Is it a coincidence that the full moon also brings out 'interesting' behaviors in people?
Maybe it has something to do with the weather cooling off? I remember reading once that neuron activity is diminished by extremes in temperature (specifically cold). Are people from temperate parts of the globe affected more than people whose bloodlines inhabited cooler portions of the globe?
Perhaps there is some sort of celestial alignment or other astrological basis, and it would be interesting to study what changes occur during this phase of the Earth's diurnal path around the sun. Are people in the southern hemisphere affected in the same way as we are? - or, do they experience the same effects 6 months later?
Come to think of it, it's probably due to television networks airing:

There is nothing wrong with the BCS. Florida lost to Auburn fair and square just a few weeks ago, so (using BCS psychologic) they deserve to be ranked two spots higher.
Ohio/Michigan - one will eliminate the other.
Louisville /West Virgina - Ditto
So that means that one of the undefeated winners of the above mentioned games will play a 10-2 Notre dame for the title, right?
The BCS was not designed to produce a champion, it was designed to make millions. See, the system is working perfectly. Stop your whining

Ohio State/West Virginia
Should be fun. How two teams from the Big Easy, I mean East, get ranked that high playing pansies I have no idea. I think the ACC is realizing that have a big conference with good teams is a bad thing for national championships....Isnt that why FSU joined the ACC to begin with? No championship games and no tough teams. Then Miami, BC, and VT come along and screw up their 'hideout'.
I used to think Notre Dame didnt deserve a BCS bid just because they were ranked in the top 'whatever' but looking at their schedule they do play a lot of big teams, on a weekly basis. But they will probably lose again before the season is all over with.

Notre Dame's version of a non-conference schedule is the service academies.
What was this thread about? These southern boys always gotta turn it into football, don't they?

You know if you put your finger over it, llike a garden hose you shouldnt have that problem.
Or you can go with the Pavlov's Dog theory and everytime you are about to deliver a 'premie' just thump the head....HA HA HA talk about a conditioned response!

I was kidding. My wife doesn't want me to drag it out any longer than necessary to "git-r-done." The more premature, the better. If I could rub one out before coming to bed, she'd be ok with it.

I say MS 23, UA 16.
The time has come for the "grand experiment" with the son of Shula to end.
Oh, and LSU 28, UA 12 - Aub 27, UA 13
and in the "Who Cares 6 Wins minimum Loser Bowl" played on Dec 17th - Northern Illinois 23 UA 17
To top it all off my Tuna trip this weekend is facing 9 foot seas. I am not paying $6000 to fish in 9 foot seas. My teeth can't take it.
It is a good thing that I don't own a gun large enough to end it all in one shot. What a sucky weekend.

Well, I only missed the call by one point. Final - MS 24 AL 16.
And MS was a 14 point underdog. Again, another game with 0 offensive touchdowns.

BTW, Auburn's BCS rating took a hit this weekend, too. Our next two opponents just lost to the cellar-dwellers of the SEC. Thanks a lot. That's some mean, spiteful stuff to do to a brother. Now I find myself rooting for Bama and Tennessee to win this weekend.

I want to re-predict the future. Alabama will lose to LSU by at least 20. I say LSU 31, Alabama 9. (Three field goals as usual.)
Then, in a desperate attempt to save his job, Shula takes his hands off the reins and lets Johns and Parker alternate at QB. They run the option with play action passing, and beat the living crap out of Auburn, who starts there second team in order to keep their starters healthy for Atlanta. (Arkansas loses to TENN, LSU, AND MISSISSIPPI ST)
A 7 win Bama, riding a wave of euphoria breezes into Shreveport to face an equally pitiful 7 win Texas Tech, who shreds the Bama D for 500 yards and 35 points, but still manages to lose by 2.
Shula boasts of his impressive 8 win season during a "rebuilding" year.
A sniper wearing a houndstooth hand shoots Shula at the post bowl interview, ending his career at Alabama.

Both go back into the UA trophy case.
Bad coaching is a crime in Alabama and justifiable homocide is a legitimate defense.

The Democrats said he's been in power too long and should have stepped down three years ago. His failed policies are up against a losing battle. They're looking to a guy from Texas A&M for answers.
