View Full Version : I went and got a sleep study

So my doctor pulled some strings and got me into a sleep clinic the last 3 days. I have went up their and slept. Well today after I woke up and was getting ready to head home they told me something i didn't understand Berry.
They said I'm sleeping but not going into Rem sleep at all. That my brain & body are still registering the same or more activity as if I was awake.
They are going to have me take the sleeping pill tonight to see if I go into REM sleep. Should I worry that my body won't enter REM sleep on its own anymore?

and the diagnosis remains..........Bipolar/Manic.
Sorry. At least they have good meds to fix it now.
I hope that I'm wrong. It could be other things. (Brain Tumor, Thyroid Cancer, Diabetes, Viral Encephalistis, Syphillis, AIDS...etc.)
Bipolar sounds pretty good now doesn't it?
(I am joking about the other stuff Grim. It could be depression, Bi Polar D/O or nothing. Just stick with the Doctor, and let him figure it out. Kudo's to you for having enough sense to go to the Doctor when something is not working right.)

Agreed, but does he have to post every fucking detail of every fucking malaise for public consumption?
I mean, I've got an infected cut on my right index finger from catching it on the sharp edge of my washing basket on the weekend, but do I expect you all to give a shit about it and post advice about the best treatment?

Chester as I can see your point. I'm asking Berry for the simple reason my doctor is doing that don't want to upset me by not telling me everything deal. I just want to know what I'm headed into.

Sex puts me to sleep its phenomenal like a few min later is all it takes and I'm snoring. I know this because my wife reminds me. It’s great because she cannot stand it and goes to the back bedroom and sleeps so I get the whole bed to sprawl out on. You should try it Grim that’s what wifey is for. It's the only real reason to put up with all the other shit.

I guess what you can't fathom Pimp is the concept of "UNITED" STATES.
The United Kingdom is a political union with a common Head of State. I don't see it's people being as fiercely patriotic as Americans. I also don't see them having a sense of "family" between regions. The term "United" as used in UK, speaks of a unity of governments, not people.
The US is a federation of states with a republican form of government.
What does that mean? It means that each of the 50 states in America are governed on their own. Although we are free to travel anywhere without restriction, individual States do not have jurisdiction in other States. (This is a great reason why the Bush Administration did not "fail" in their response to hurricane Katrina. The US government did the right thing by staying out of Louisiana's business until invited by it's local government.)
A federation creates much diversity between each State, and also much competition. It also creates a strong sense of family. The "United" in U.S. speaks of a unity of people, not just governments.
In Amercia, I can crack on my Yankee neighbors to the North, or my coon ass neighbors in Louisiana, or the worthless man/boys that cruise the clubs in California. That said, I will politely disembowel anyone from the outside that does the same thing. That is the way "brother" works.
So when Americans die, it effects us as if we actually knew the people who died, because they were in every way "Family."
It's the same reason we spend ten years tracking down the killer of one little kid. As far as I am concerned, that kid, regardless of who birthed it, was my son or daughter as well.
Regardless of what the rest of the World thinks about America, one thing is certain - we give a crap about each other. When one hurts, we all feel it.
I have a feeling that you will never grasp the concept.

the american dream eh? sure looks that way from the outside berry
It looks that way from the outside because the liberal media of America, who represent a thin majority and their own special interests, feed that crap to the rest of the world.
Let me clue you in Pimp. I live here. I work every day with the "impoverished" and the "less forutune." I know what America really looks like.
The truth is this - there is VERY LITTLE HOMELESSNESS in America. The miniscule number of people who refuse to accept the shelter that is offered them, and choose to sleep under a bridge are not "homeless." They are sick and refusing treatment.
I see the "homeless" often. I have never met one yet that was not either mentally ill, or hopelessly addicted to drugs/alcohol. They refuse treatment, and you can't make them get better. "Homlessness in America" is a myth. Some of the living conditions may not be great for everyone, but I bet the worst in America is still much better than the worst in other developed countries. Want proof? Ask any American if they know anybody - ANYBODY - that does not have clean running water available in their home. That's a real indicator of quality of life.
Statistically a person is "homeless" when they run up huge credit card bills, party all the time, lose their jobs, bankrupt, and have to move in with relatives. I have a hard time crying for people who make stupid decisions. They are homeless by definition, but they are surely sleeping with a roof over their head at night.
And Poverty? Yes, there are poor people in America. But the poor here still have it better than most every where else in the world. Want proof? Well tell me this Pimp, when is the last time you saw and American trying to sneak out of the Country to find a better life? And poor people here have something that is not always available in the rest of the world - they have the opportuinty to do better. Hard work still pays off here.
As far as social security, medicaid, etc - you just don't know what you are talking about. Every child in Alabama has access to "Kids First" health care. Community Medical facilities see people for a few dollars. The Community Mental health centers give out free drugs like candy. It may take a day or two to get treated for non emergencies, but people get treated.
And lastly, Racism. Screw you Pimp for even saying that.
America has every color and ethnicity. We live together and work together and get along just fine every day. There is always going to be individual racism anywhere you go, because there are stupid people anywhere you go. As a whole, this country is far ahead of the rest of the world in it's acceptance and tolerance. You go into any American resturant on any given day, and you will see all races and colors eating together and thinking nothing of it. Racism is a losers trump card that is played to hide incompetence and laziness - Ray Nagin being a prime example. What happened in New Orleans wasn't due to racism - it was due to incompetence on a local level. Nagin screams "racism" to cover his own ass, and the ignorant world out there believes it must be true.
Again, I waste my time. It is impossible to educate someone who has a vested interest in maintaining their erroneous beliefs.

Ludicrous, Joe. Completely ludicrous. You have no evidence that that idiot surfed for porn, and certainly none that it was this behaviour that made him into the so-called "monster" he is today.

This would be a good topic for a new thread.....nah, that's not the Fugly tradition.
No link between porn and perversion? There is literally 100's of research projects worldwide that have valididated a link between pornography and violent sexual crime. While it is probably not accurate to say that pornography causes someone to be a child molester, it is almost certainly true to say that pornography paves the road to perversion.
No question that a link exists between pornography and sexual perversion. The question to be answered is which came first, the chicken or the egg.

Hey back up a little. Ok I was just making a point that no sane person would argue against so that we can at least find some common ground.
Point is even if the sick porn does not cause the sick perversion. I think maybe we can agree that it has the potential to feed the perversion like fertilizer.
And thats not a good thing.

No question that a link exists between pornography and sexual perversion. The question to be answered is which came first, the chicken or the egg.
Correct. And given that millions of people watch porn without committing crimes of any description, let alone sexual ones, I think we can safely say the perversion comes first.
It's a little like the "marijuana causes you to move onto harder drugs" argument, where the logic is equally flawed. You walk up to someone who's on hard drugs and ask them if they ever used marijuana, and BINGO, case closed, of course they all have. (It is, after all, the easiest illicit drug to get hold of.)
No one every thinks to ask them if they used alcohol or cigarettes, because that wouldn't suit the point they are trying to make. And no one considers the countless millions of people who have a sly puff of the weed on the weekend and have never, ever moved onto anything else.
Likewise, of course sexual predators have viewed pornography. And honestly, hasn't everyone? But the vast majority never move onto sexual crimes of any description.
Here's a few other questions we could ask sexual predators, in the course of our "research":
- Have you ever eaten at McDonalds? (Therefore, eating at McDonalds causes you to become a sexual predator.)
- Have you ever licked a stamp? (Therefore, licking stamps causes you to become a sexual predator.)
- Have you ever read the Bible? (etc. etc. etc.)

If the nanny comes with references and is from a reputable agency I have no problem with their gender.
I have babysat for some of my friends who are also parents, and they had no problems with it either. Even though, as I freely admit, I have, in the past, eaten at McDonalds.

one thing is certain - we give a crap about each other. When one hurts, we all feel it.
homelessness.. poverty... people advocating dismantling medicare/medicaid/social security... racism..
the american dream eh? sure looks that way from the outside berry

I have also worked in South Africa, Canada, Western Carribbean, Europe, currently in the UK, and the help people recieve in third world countries is better than what poor people in the US get.
America is the best place to be a millionaire, the worst place to be poor.

There is a huge population of poor and homeless people in the US, it's just that data is unpopular and hard to get a hold of. The growth between the rich and the poor is at an all time high, especially in the United States. Hell the united states decided finally after 26 years to give the working poor a boost in minum wage. Classy.
about your bit on social securty etc. What are the national stats outside of Alabama, you answered a national question with a local response. I left the states for a better life, QUALITY of life, you can have the most toys in the US, but I prefer the Life in a cultured, world aware place, where out of sight out mind isn't a national modo.

Albiet Barry, some of the funding comes from the US, not a great deal does. Majority of the people who have addiction problems are poor in third world, as in the United States, they recieve a higher level of compassion and treatment than there eqivalent poor counterparts in the US. There was more I could do for them, then I could in the Richest country in the world. Sadly, one of the many things I would change if I could.

I was a complete mess I drank champange and vodka, had casual sex. No drugs of any kind. This is my form of stress release, you build houses, and move constantly, I chase my problems away with Champagne Mohito's, Vodka on the rocks and casual sex. We all have our methods of stress relief. These are mine, right or wrong, I don't hurt anyone esle when I do it, I am an adult and take the necessary precautions. It also involved a day of reading voltaire on the beach as well, truly a criminal act if I do say so.

I am interested in Man, and the planet, I enjoy travelling learning about the people, places, fighting off Malaria (twice), culture, and exploring the world we inhabit, I don't need an allegiance to a country to help people with addictions, and beating addictions. Addiction and drugs certianly know no borders, I adopt the same philosphy. I have learned tons from many cultures and their attitude towards addicition, that I never would have learned from a text book.
No wife, no country, no home, no children, and no allegiance to anything other than yourself.
Barry these are the things you hold to be true for your security, I don't need those things, or want them, My idea's of how to live my life, are my own, and are not up for discussion or deabte.
I have no desire to have a relationship with a woman, only to tell her that I am moving to South Africa, it's not fair to her. I don't offer someone more than I can give, same goes for children etc.
Myself is all I have Barry, I don't have a family, or extended family, so who else would you like me to have an allegiance to?
Barry Wrote:

I can appreciate your Honestly Barry, and I do know the importance of attachment, I aslo know the value of self reliance, determination, goal setting, and getting back up once you have fallen back down the list goes on.
I have my own issues like anyone else, still my life is my own, the world is a bigger place than your own back yard, my choice is to go out and experience it, some of it good, some of it bad. You may not agree with how I spend my personal time, but that's your issue not mine, I live my life with how it makes me happy, and how I can put the crap I deal with behind me so I can come back and continue to help the people who need it.
I enjoy an ocassional weekend bender, and casual sex. You enjoy building houses, moving, and fishing. You're secure in the knowledge that you have a sucessfull career, a loving family. I am secure in the fact my travels will never end, and I will see as much of the planet as I can before I kick the bucket. In the end they serve the same purpose, enjoying the time we have left with who makes us happy in your case, or in my case, what makes me happy.

I still feel the same
*Especially for you
*I wanna tell you I was feeling that way too
*And if dreams were wings, you know
*I would have flown to you
*To be where you are
No matter how far
+And now that I'm next to you
*No more dreaming about tomorrow
*Forget the loneliness and the sorrow
I've got to say
+It's all because of you
CHORUS: +And now we're back together, together
+I wanna show you my heart is oh so true
+And all the love I have is +Especially for you

*How I'm certain that our love was meant to be
*You changed my life
You showed me the way
+And now that I'm next to you
*I've waited long enough to find you
*I wanna put all the hurt behind you Oh,
+And I wanna bring out all the love inside you, +Oh

Cinncinati is less than 50% Black. So that means that the poorest city in America is predominately White. Detroit is 88% Black, and always makes the top ten list for poverty. DC wins because it is 70% Black, and always in the top ten for poorest. Ther report that came out today ranked them #1, and Cinncinati 12th.
FYI - New Orleans came in at 9th on the list of poorest cities.
While the truth is that one of the poorest and blackest areas (9th ward) of New Orleans was flooded, New Orleans is not the "poorest and blackest" American city. Not by a long shot.
