View Full Version : So..
What do you do if you get an incredibly annoying song stuck in your head and it won't go away? I've tried listening to everything from Bach to Ramstein and it's just not going away!!
Help?!

I think you're on the right track with the frontal lobotomy idea... Just take great care when you enter through the eye socket - you want to be able to watch yourself piss and drool afterwards.

I have an idea to get that song out of your head. Don't ever post here again. I don't know if it will help, but at least we won't have to hear about it. Please shut the fuck up.

Speaking of songs and I like most all types of musig generes good music is just good music. But I'm just thinking of most modern songs pop, rock, country. Is the ballad dead? What ever happened to songs that had lyrics that were written like a poem and told a story that could stand on its own? Example: Harry Nilsson Everybodies talking at me. Songs by Gordon Lightfoot, Jim Croce, Bruce Springstein. I cannot think of any modern songs that are not just a catch phrase rambled over and over with a catchy beat. Of course I listen to new and old country and classic rock mostly so I probably limit myself.

Check out the Mars Volta and Fear Factory. Earlier Fear Factory though, like Obsolete, Demanufacture, and Soul of the New Machine. They do some kind of cool stuff. Mars Volta is pretty fucking weird, but they do tell a story. Also, Tool punches most other music in the face. I don't care if Schmed likes them. They rule, especially if you like progressive thought provoking stuff.

Tool? Really? hmm..
Maynard:]
Living on the street shores
He didn't learn and wanted children
Said, "What is there left to stay alive for?"
He doesn't wanna see it...
[Maynard:]
He didn't wanna deal with it
Here they come, feelings that come as natural
Whatever left, he considered a loss, y'all
He doesn't wanna see it...
[Maynard:]
Running away, getting some kinda cure
"What is there left to keep him alive?" she said
Give him your love, give him your love to save him
Give him your love, give him your love to save him
[Maynard:]
Give him your love, give him your love to save him
Don't run away, give him your love to save him
Give him your love, give him your love to save him
Give him your love...
[Zach 2x:]
You can kill the revolutionary
But you can't kill the revolution
[Zach & Maynard 2x:]
You can kill the revolutionary
But you can't kill the revolution
[Zach:]
Lies, negative indoctrination of our good selves
Promote feelings of such hopelessness, powerlessness
Suicide or a slower death from addiction
seemed to be the only way to stop the pain
[Maynard:]
Running...
[Zach:]
Lies, negative indoctrination of our good selves
Promote feelings of such hopelessness, powerlessness
Suicide or a slower death from addiction
seemed to be the only way to stop the pain
[Zach:]
Suicide seemed to be the only way to stop the pain
Suicide seemed to be the only way to stop the pain
[Zach 2x:]
You can kill the revolutionary
But you can't kill the revolution
[Zach & Maynard 4x:]
You can kill the revolutionary
But you can't kill the revolution
Dark ... but deep still the same.
Ok here is the forementioned Everybodies talking at me by Harry Nilsson
Everybody's talkin' at me
I don't hear a word they're sayin'
Only the echoes of my mind.
People stop and starin'
I can't see their faces
Only the shadows of their eyes
I'm goin' where the sun keeps shinin'
Through the pourin' rain.
Goin' where the weather suits my clothes
Bankin' off of the northeast winds
Sailin' on summer breeze
And skippin' over the ocean like a stone...
A poem basically could stand alone not even as a song. You could say its goofy if you like but just an example.
Gordon Lightfoot sings about distrust of his woman driving him to drinking and threats of violence. in: "Sundown"
i can see her lyin' back in her satin dress
In a room where ya do what ya don't confess
Sundown ya better take care
If i find you been creepin' 'round my back stairs
Sundown ya better take care
If i find you been creepin' 'round my back stairs
She's been lookin' like a queen in a sailor's dream
And she don't always say what she really means
Sometimes i think it's a shame
When i get feelin' better when i'm feelin' no pain
Sometimes i think it's a shame
When i get feelin' better when i'm feelin' no pain
I can picture every move that a man could make
Getting lost in her lovin' is your first mistake
Sundown ya better take care
If i find you been creepin' 'round my back stairs
Sometimes i think it's a sin
When i feel like i'm winnin' when i'm losin again
I can see her lookin' fast in her faded jeans
She's a hard lovin' woman, got me feelin' mean
Sometimes i think it's a shame
When i get feelin' better when i'm feelin' no pain
Sundown ya better take care
If i find you been creepin' 'round my back stairs
Sundown ya better take care
If i find you been creepin' 'round my back stairs
Sometimes i think it's a sin
When i feel like i'm winnin' when i'm losin' again

Not really a fan of Rage Against the Machine. Zack always seemed to pissed about things to be genuine. Were things really that tough for him? I don't think so. Tom Morello is a pretty awesome guitar player though.

Yeah thats one thing I can say about the latest (what do ya call that? Thrash metal?) At least the bands usually have some instrument playing talent.

Yeah, check out a band called Soilwork. Swedish band. They're pretty awesome. They do melody as well as any metal band out there. You're right about time in a bottle, that song is pretty phenomenal. Also, check out a group called Trivium. Old school thrash in a brand new package. Their in a very similar vein to old Metallica, and by old Metallica I mean Ride the Lighting/Kill'em All vintage. Good stuff.
Joe, have you ever heard anything by John Gorka? He's very similar to Gordon Lightfoot and Jackson Browne.. kind of in the middle somewhere. I really like that guy. The name of the album that is my favorite slips my mind at the moment (early morning here) and our crap isn't here from the US yet so when it comes in, I'll let you know the name of the album. It's really worth checking out!
dio, the band I mentioned in my original post is Ramstein, they are a German version of Metallica... just awesome stuff. Even if you don't understand German, the music is just incredible. If you have cable or dsl and want some of their stuff, I can send it to ya.
Oh and the evil song that was stuck in my head was that old ... thing.. "You're the reason God made Oklahoma" I don't know who does it or why the hell it got stuck in my head. My dad used to listen to that crap. It was very painful.

I'm familiar with Rammstein. Don't try and bribe me into liking you with music either. I still think you're an idiot.
Don't flatter yourself, kid.

I'm not attempting to flatter myself. I'm pointing out that you're an idiot, and your access to bit torrents doesn't change that.
Well since you say I'm an idiot, it must be true!

Of course. I know everything. The sooner everyone else learns that the happier they'll be.
So why aren't the movers here yet? They were supposed to be here last week, then they call and say they'll be here today but so far.. nothing.

Your check bounced.
Not possible. We didn't pay for the move, it was taken care of for us.

I didn't say which check, I just said your check bounced. That's why they threw you out of the whore house.
Well that made absolutely no sense whatsoever. Try again.

Where are the keys to the Canoe?
Hanging from the mud flap mobile in the midgets room. You know, right where they always are! Jesus.. you must be a guy.
And on a brighter note, the movers DID get here and it only took them an hour and a half to bring everything in! It only took FIVE WEEKS for the stuff to get here, too! I hate to think how long it will take to ship things to Africa (which is where I wanna go next) or back to Russia. (which is where my hunny wants to go back to) I wish the moving service also offered a "Putting stuff away" service too. I don't want to.
