I think this guy is brilliant. But I don't get out much.

He is brilliant... His oldest stuff is some of his best, too.
Funny this thread should pop up today... a few days ago, I found 4 MINT condition Carlin records at work...
(Well, the sleeves are worn a bit, but the vinyl are 'sans scratches'...)
FM & AM - '73
Occupation: Foole - '73
An Evening with Wally Londo (Feat. Bill Slaszo) - '75
On the Road - '77
I don't even know if these are available on CD... I hadn't even heard of 'em until a few days ago.

Yeah, he is pretty incredible. He's getting pretty cynical as he gets older, but I don't think that's hurting his comedy. "Napalm and Silly Putty" was a pretty good book.

I've only read "Brain Droppings" - and to be honest, as much as I love GC, the comedy seems to lose a bit when he's not actually reciting it (at least with most of that material)

It's hard to get the delivery the way he intended from reading his stuff. You have to interpret the pacing yourself, and that's part of it. George Burns never would have said a funny line if it wasn't for his timing.

I love his line about his Dr. never says anything about him smoking and drinking.
