I just picked up the GBA port of SNES classic Final Fantasy II (IV in Japan & on the playstation rerelease). I love playing it on the gameboy. I'm high on nostalgia.

KEFKA YOU ARE NEXT!

And hopefully Lavos.

I hated 8, didn't get more than ten or so hours into it.

Yeah, well fuck all of that. Go get a gameboy advance and FF4!

I'm just about to head back to Baron to confront the "King!" with Yang, Tellah and of course the twins, Palom and Porom.

I Still have my SNES cartridges for 2 & 3, I should pick up an SNES again. FF II & III were good, III especially so.

I still have my original games and SNES. I'm hoping our 3 (FF6 in Japan) comes out next, and then, hopefully, my personal favorite Chrono Trigger (thus the Kefka/ Lavos mentions earlier).

That's what I love about GBA. Its bringing back all the games I played when I was younger.

You know, I would love to participate in this thread, but I don't have the slightest clue what you are talking about.

I guess at 46 the technology wagon has left me in the dust.

I still have an Atari, and a Pentium 700 computer with Windows 98. I ain't going no farther.

I did, it was ok. I almost beat it before my PS2 broke
For the most part I've grown out of RPG's. I'm a stay at home father, so having the gameboy and games with the save anywhere function on most games is what works best for me.

DrBungle

And its the Giant of Babel, not Gaia Gaint. You guys dropped the ball on that one.

It's been nine years. FF wasn't that formative on my childhood and teenage years for me to remember the name's of all of the monsters/bosses.

DrBungle

ITS A FUCKING DUNGEON!

diogenes

doesn't he start walking when you get to the top or something?

DrBungle

I'm sorry, did someone leave a window open? I think I heard the wind.

DrBungle
05-05-2006, 02:42 AM
I beat it!

Apparently there's a bonus nine level dungeon that is unearthed on the moon (unmooned on the moon?) after you beat it!

diogenes
05-05-2006, 02:43 AM
Does it give you any extra equipment, or is it just bonus content?

DrBungle
05-05-2006, 02:47 AM
You have to go through it all at once, so not yet! Gotta go turn all my gold into dry elixers. Plus, I haven't gone back to earth to see if there's anything new there.

I did unlock the juke box extra though!

If you've got a GBA you should check it out.

Lomotil
05-05-2006, 02:02 PM
Damn, I didn't even know they remade it for the GBA - I put down the remake of part 1 several months ago and haven't played a single FF game since...

It was fun playing through IV again on the PSX, though... And now, Bungle, your post in the 'interesting' thread finally makes sense.

Lomotil

So, does the chick in the village throw her clothes off when she dances, or is Nintendo still censoring that?

DrBungle
05-05-2006, 05:44 PM
As far as I can tell it's a much truer translation, clothes come off and the the "Dark" set is the Demon set again.

And in Baron there's a kid running around with the Ultimate Power :)

For $30 new, yer gonna get your money's worth.

The duplicate item trick doesn't work though :(

Lomotil
05-05-2006, 11:53 PM
Damn... I loved that trick. Who was it, Edge? You could throw Masamunes at bosses all day long if you did the trick enough times...

DrBungle
05-06-2006, 12:38 AM
You could do it with anyone, but the trick was most useful with Edge. Masume's and Excaliburs all night long.
