I love hops. At least until lately, so my favorite had been a relatively local one by Victory Brewing called HopWallop.

But tonight I tried St. Bernardus (sp?) Abbey 12 and OMFG.

OMFG means, "Oh my FUCKING GOD", this is good stuff.

So, if you can get your hands on this one (and it's tough) try it. You will be shocked and amazed.

In fact... pour it slow but at the end dump the rest of the bottle into a glass and take a big swig of the foam before it settles. You'll get a lot more of an idea of the flavor that way.

You should expand this topic to be alcohol in general and combine it with the smoke shop. Some people aren't beer drinkers but have opinions on other types of alcohol.

What do you think it should be called then? How about "Vice".?

Yeah, or "Rec Room" or "Hedonistic Hideaway" or something.

As far as store bought stuff Dos Equis is awesome. There's a brewery a block from my house that has a beer called Luhnie Kuhnie that is probably the best beer I've ever had though.

Stella Artois. Lagers are probably the only thing I can stomach when it comes to beer; Ales make me barf. We have this foul beer here called XXXX Bitter and Victoria Bitter. They taste like dick cheese dissolved in goat's piss.

Tried Stella Artois recently and it was pretty good but I like my ales;Alexander Keith's IPA and Oland Export are my favorite now.I would like to hear the rest of the story on how you know what dick cheese dissolved in goat's piss tastes like though,I think it might make a helluva movie.

I tried a Stella while on a dinner cruise on the Nile in Cairo, Egypt. Good times. It was the only beer I could get my hands on during my 3 weeks there so it was pretty good but otherwise I don't remember any specifics.

My favorite beer ever is a craft ale called Resurrection. It has a deep reddish hue and they serve it in fancy glasses. I like to pretend I'm drinking blood when I have it. Here's a link to a better description: http://www.thebrewersart.com/housebeer.html

It's an acquired taste!!

But some people just don't like it I guess. Try some top end beers or if there's a brewery near you try some of those. Females tend to like brewery type beers I've noticed.

The best beer I ever had, at this time, would have to be Molsons Canadian in Ontario. Its not a real 'ale' or nothing like that, but for a clean taste, that packs a wallup, its hands down the best. Until I can get over to Ireland and drink some real beers I am going with the Molsons. I drank a lot of 'local' brews while I was up there too, but can remember their name, for some reason I remember drinking a lot of them though...

I just dont think drinking 'imported' beer in the US is the same. Cant be. I know the beer in Canada had a higher alcohol content, but they did it right. We have some 'high octane' ones in Ga, but they are nasty compared to the one from our brothers in the north. Hell drinking beer in the Casinos in Niagra Falls canada, then crossing the border and drinking beers is like eating a perfect steak at Harry Careys in Chicago, then picking up a Sirloin from the Waffle House.

Margaritas are great, but you drink that other garbage but don't like the taste of beer? You're a strange one Ice.

I like the beer thats ice cold and in my hand when I'm hot and dehydrated. Like when I used to do roofing and the boss would toss a tall boy up at the end of a long day. I'd guzzle it down and ask him to toss me another one. After the second one the buzz was already starting to hit. Thats when I would decide to focus my concentration on making it off the roof alive.

It may sound silly I think it was normally bud light, but the fact is any beer can taste much better or much worse in the right circumstance.

I'm that redneck guy at the bar who is just as likely to have a Bud as to have some import cause often times there is only about 2 cent worth of difference.

So what exactly do you do for fun Pukey? You don't seem to like....well anything as far as I can tell. Do you hang around your house all pilled up then have bat shit crazy dreams to entertain you?

I'm not breaking balls here I'm genuinely curious.

Ales and Lagers are different.

Ales are usually stronger and are top fermented. Lagers and lighter and are cold and bottom fermented.

There is no "better" beer. It's all about what you like.

Bud Light is no worse than anything else if that is what you prefer.

The whole point is to find something you like and, when you do, THAT is the best beer on Earth.

On a hot summer day, nothing to me beats an ice cold Natural Light. And that shit is like water but on a hot day on the Bay or eating crabs, that is the perfect thing.

it's really all about what you like.

Nobody likes a beer snob.

No body being no one, in this case.

PS. I am sick as hell of beer. I have been making ciders lately here and am totally in love with them.

I have a Cherry, a Blueberry, a Pomegranate and a Cranberry brewing as I write this.

There is so much more variety in natural fruits that can be turned into booze, it's amazing.

Beer tastes and smells like barf to me lately. I'm sick and tired of it, to my dismay. I think I might have overdosed on hops or maybe I hit the ceiling but I'm so grossed out by beer these days I can't even smell it.

That's a sad goddamn thing.

Why would you need alcohol to have "fun"? I don't get pilled up. I don't get high on anything.

I wasn't asking specifically about drugs and alchohol but I guess I should have been a little clearer.

What the hell do you do for fun? Describe your ideal fun day to me.

I don't do anything in particular for fun. It depends on my mood and anything can be fun. I can have fun at Lowe's for god's sake if I'm feeling good.

And I guess I lied when I said I don't get fucked up on anything. Occasionally I will get stoned and I have always had a hard time turning down downers, but I don't do it in a social scene, meaning I don't "party", I guess.

I don't like concerts or amusement parks or anything that involves a surge of adrenaline or a crowd of people. It makes me want to have a seizure and pull out my hair. I have literally had to pinch myself in crowds to keep from flipping my lid.

I like to be as relaxed as possible, so I prefer content to fun anyday. I like walking around in the woods and photography and playing with animals. That makes me happy.

My apologies if I sounded condescending. Yes Natural Light is a good beer for those hot dehydrated days. I'm open minded about the designer beers. But I have many times been disappointed also after forking over the cash. It's good to hear about what others like though just to get an idea of what to try if nothing else.

I bet these micro-brews will hurt and some fall to the wayside in a down economy. What do you think?

And while I understand the copper makes Coors taste kinda cheesy. Why is it to me Coors Light and regular Coors taste like they have nothing in common. I was gonna say "taste like two totally different beers" but I guess they are "different beers".
